Adrien comes home on Sunday, and I’m ready to leave that night when they both stop me. We’ve eaten outside, where they have a lovely outside dining table that I’ve eaten around a couple of times in the last year since Sara came back into Adrien’s life and made him less of a workaholic.
“I spoke to Reid.”
I stand as still as a statue. Luckily, neither of them can see my face, as my back is to them, but Adrien is going to read my body language. I slowly turn and hope to god my game face is on. “Oh, yeah.”
“Yeah, while I was in New York, the private security team that found Greyson and his lawyer, they were the ones looking into Alexandria.”
“What did they say?” I ask. There’s no mistaking I have hope in my voice. I can’t believe that I’m being hopeful about this, but it means that my intuition is right. That I’ve been right all along.
“She did sell you out to the press,” Adrien says as he looks down at his phone, reading through something. “She’s also been trying to gain access to your computer since the day she started. The cyber guys were impressed that you changed your password every day.”
“Yeah, I got the idea from a TV show,” I laugh.
“Do you want to be there when I fire her ass?” he asks, smirking.
“No,” I surprise us all by saying. “I think I’m going to take that vacation my sister spoke to you about.”
Sara and Adrien laugh. “Sounds like a good and healthy thing to do.”
“I’ll be back Wednesday,” I say.
“Take the whole week off,” Adrien says.
“No, I just need a couple of days. Georgia is best dealt with in small doses.” I stand.

REID
WONDERWALL: OASIS
The press has gone quiet since our little story, and I’m beginning to worry that we had been too quick to pull the trigger. I was eager to see Jenna at the office on Monday when I went to see Adrien. I was surprised to see someone else sitting at her desk when I arrived.
The gossip of the day spread around the building first thing when it got around that the new assistant had been fired. What’s more surprising is that Jenna didn’t want to miss it. She could just be off sick, but I know something is the matter.
“Can you see if Mr. Banks has a moment to see Reid Taylor? I wanted to run something by him.” I smile, my megawatt smile at her.
“Of course,” she smiles back. It’s obvious she recognizes me. She picks up the phone. I presume to call Adrien.
He comes to the door, and the smile I’m usually graced with from him is gone and replaced with a look of ‘you’re a stupid, stupid idiot.’ To be fair, it’s not wrong. I close the door behind us, and he sits behind his desk and stares me down.
“Where’s Jenna?” I hear the plea in my voice and hope he takes pity on me, especially since I got him the information on the other assistant.
“She’s taken a couple of vacation days. She wanted to see her sister.”
I miss her so much, and even though I know we only fake broke up, the fact that none of us has been in touch feels like we have. I’d be willing to give up my whole acting career for her. I know she doesn’t want to be in the limelight, but I’d be more than happy to fall into the background. I mean, I only appear on my show as an occasional guest star, a small deal I broke with Adrien for the first season to help with ratings. “I miss her.”
“She’s something special,” Adrien says, a sympathetic look coming over his face. “I’m surprised she agreed to date you, though. I mean, we’ve all joked with her over the years about her crush on you.”
“Yeah, she told me about that. Dom might have mentioned it as well.”
“She has taken a lot of lengths to stay out of the public eye. She and Georgia couldn’t be further apart personality-wise. I learned that after spending some time with her in New York.”
“I know who her parents were, Adrien.”
He looks at me, surprised.
“What can I say? We all have secrets we want to keep quiet, away from public consumption.”
