“Yeah. Me too.” She smiles back at me, squeezing my shoulder. “I’ll close the office, and then we’ll get going.” Sara heads to her office. “Alexandria, I don’t need anything else. You can leave for the weekend. I’ll see you on Monday morning.” She closes her door, and I’m left with Alexandria in my office space.

Sara and I spend the weekend together, and I think it’s the longest we’ve spent together without Adrien as a buffer. Not that we need it. It’s just Adrien and I know each other so much better. Adrien promised to get Georgia to give me a call when he sees her when he lands in New York. Mike and Kate are friends with Greyson’s lawyer, so all the guys jumped on a plane with Mike and Kate.

I never appreciated it before, but Sara and I should be friends in any other setting. We’re pretty close in age.

“What do you want to ask?” I look over my sunglasses as Sara stares back at me from her sun lounger.

“What made you not trust Alexandria from the first moment you met her?” Sara asks, and now she has my full attention. I put the bookmark back in my book and put it on the wooden table between us.

“Why do you ask?”

“Just I’ve noticed the looks between the two of you, and Adrien said you don’t trust her. At first, he thought you were being territorial, but I know you have good instincts. I was just wondering about it.”

I haven’t told anyone this. I never even had a chance to tell the guys because shit hit the fan. “I’m convinced she’s a mole for someone, but I don’t know who or why.” I blurt out and can’t look at Sara directly because even I realize how stupid it sounds.

Sara sits up a little straighter.

“I have nothing to base this on. But Reid had someone looking into her. I guess that’s been called off now.”

“You were really that convinced?”

“I’m convinced she’s the person who went to the press about Reid, made all this blow-up. We were keeping a low profile. I’ve never wanted to be in public life. I’ve been there, done that. I never wanted to go down that route again.”

“What do you mean?”

“I grew up here. My parents were inside Hollywood their whole lives. I was a teen when they died in a plane crash. I guess Adrien never told you?”

She shakes her head.

“I like to keep my private life private. Reid understood that. He knew I would never be hanging on his arm at any big events. I like my life quiet. I’m convinced she’s behind it. She has ruined my whole life in a week. Reid nearly lost a job because of her; now I’m miserable and alone. The studio would have been none the wiser about our relationship. At the end of the day, it was nobody else’s business.” I pick my book up, not wanting to talk about this anymore. My phone buzzes on the table next to me.

Georgia: It’s still crazy here. They think they might know where they are, so this looks like it will all be over soon.

Jenna: That’s good. How are you holding up?

Georgia: I’ve been better. Work has kept me busy.

Jenna: We need a spa day when you come home.

Georgia: Why don’t you come to New York next week? The change in scenery might be good for you.

Jenna: Won’t you be busy?

Georgia: Probably, but my little sister needs me just as much as my clients.

Jenna: You don’t fool me, Georgia.

Georgia: What do you mean?

Jenna: I know your secret.

Georgia: You do, huh? I think I know yours too.

Georgia: I’ve told Adrien to send you my way, so it’s a done deal.

Georgia: See you next week.

The stubborn, cheeky, so and so. Going over my head because she knows Adrien is always trying to get me to take more vacations than I do.
