“We do.” Adrien looks like he wants to rip me a new one but also like he wants to give me information he doesn’t know I should have.

“I’m willing to never act again for her, Adrien.” He understands what I’m saying, what I’m willing to give up for her. “She’s worth it, and I don’t even need to think about it. Her happiness is worth more to me than any movie, even if it is something I’ve wanted since I was fifteen years old.”

“She’s back Thursday.”

“Thank you.”

“I was wrong about you, Reid.”

“Oh yeah, how?”

“You’re a better guy than I gave you credit for. We’ll see you at the wedding in the summer?”

I know they plan on keeping this thing as small as possible, so the fact that I’m getting an invitation must mean… “If she’ll have me back, I’ll be there.”

“Reid, you don’t need to win her back.”

“No? What makes you say that?”

“You haven’t fucked this up enough for her never to take you back. Sara and I had our little disagreement last year.”

“Yeah, I remember. You chased her to the other side of the country.”

He laughs, thinking about that time. “Sara and Jenna are different women. Jenna won't appreciate you following her to New York. Surprise her when she gets back.”

I nod, understanding clearly. I need to give Jenna space. That’s what she needs, and after all, what sheneedsis way more important than anything.

She’s going to hate me for doing this, but I know it’s what’s best for all of us. I need to have Jenna and Dominic in my life. These last few days have proven that. I head over to Dominic’s office and see he isn’t there, and Josh’s office is dark like he has no intention of returning.

One of the guys sitting at a desk in the bullpen gives me a double take. “You looking for Dom?”

“Yeah,” I say as I approach the guy.

“They all went to London. The boss decided to make the trip earlier. Dom’s gone with them.”

“How long is he planning on being away?”

“A couple of weeks, I think. The boss was talking about leaving Dom there for a couple of weeks. Something about Dom needing to be away from here for a few weeks.”

I look at him, worried that he’s spreading gossip. “I heard Dom say that.”

“Thanks,” I say, making my way back to the elevators, and hopefully, I can come up with a new game plan. Having Dominic on board is important too.

Reid: I’m on my way to London.

Reid: Let me know what hotel you’re staying at.

I walk into my office and bag up my things, telling the rest of the writers I’ll be away for a couple of days. They all know how to contact me if and when they need me. I won’t technically be needed on set until next week.

My driver and security are waiting for me at the door when I come out of the lobby and onto the street. I look up at the two buildings and know everything will be different the next time I return here.

“You’re doing the right thing,” he tells me, giving me a knowing look.

By the time I get off the plane, it’s already morning. As soon as I clear the airport, I turn my phone on and hope Dominic has got my messages.

Dom: So glad you changed the plan.

Dom: She’s going to have your balls for this, though.
