“Also true,” Avro said. “I have an idea. Why don’t you go with Jace?”
“What?” Jace and I said together.
“I’m serious. You said you want to take Raine to the awards show, so why not start laying the groundwork now? It will be more believable if you’re seen together sooner. You can catch the two concerts you need to do and fly back. It’s what? Three days?”
“Oh, I don’t know if that’s a good idea.” I nibbled my lip as I thought about Kai’s reaction. Who was I fooling? He was going to lose his mind.
Jace turned his steely gaze on me. “Let me guess…Kai?” He shook his head. “Are you always going to walk on eggshells where he is concerned?” He stepped back and crossed his arms. I looked between him and Avro and wanted to be pissed off, yet I couldn’t think of a good comeback. “I mean, if you start now, then he’ll dictate everything you do. You realize that, right? Don’t fool yourself, Kai may have agreed to, try, as you put it, but he’s already formulating a plan to pry you away from us.”
I narrowed my gaze at him. “And how can you be so sure?”
“Because it’s what I would do if I were him.” Walking over to the shower, he ran the water and turned around to face me. “I’d make sure that I was always in your face. Texts, phone calls, surprise visits. Then it would be jealousy. Have you see me with other women and make sure that you were good and pissed before I fucked you so good that you wouldn’t be able to walk right for a week. Then I’d make you feel guilty for thinking that I’d actually ever fuck those girls. Then I’d mark you, something like a tattoo or fancy jewelry that screams you’re mine and that the other guys can’t compare. Last is undermine the other guys and find a way to make them look bad.”
“Wow, you’ve put some thought into this,” I said, glaring at him, yet I couldn’t stop thinking about the text messages waiting for me.
“I don’t need to think about it. It’s classic alpha behavior.” He held up a finger. “One treat you like a goddess.” He lifted another. “Two make you jealous.” He held up a third. “Three make you doubt yourself and your feelings.” He lifted a fourth finger. “Mark you somehow so you feel labeled and owned.” He held up his whole hand. “Lastly, separate you from the pack.”
“But Kai is not like that,” I said and realized as Avro and Jace laughed that either I was naive or they were right, and I didn’t like either option.
“Oh yes, he is. Every man is capable of it, even if they don’t mean to do it. Kai may not set out to complete the steps consciously, but unconsciously, his whole goal is still to make you solely his. He has no interest in sharing you with anyone. You wait and see.”
“And that’s not your goal. Right now, putting doubts in my head?”
“Wrong, I’m educating you. I’m used to having multiple people in a relationship and navigating the waters with different personalities that have their own agendas. Can you say the same for Kai?” Jace lifted his shoulders and let them drop. I wasn’t sure what to believe. On the one hand, he had a point, but on the other, I saw Kai as more of a stomping around, beating his chest type rather than using mental manipulation. “Look, all I’m saying is stay watchful until things find a good groove. Just because you want this to happen doesn’t mean it's magically going to be okay.”
Jace pushed down the boxers he was wearing and smiled as my eyes fixed on his still, very hard cock, the argument I was about to make crashed into a wall.
“I’m going to shower. Anyone care to join,” Jace asked.
“I’m in,” Avro pushed his boxers down, and I was left staring at the two of them completely naked. I licked my lips as my eyes roamed over their bodies. They stepped in the shower but kept the door open. As their lips met and hands roamed over each other’s bodies, I felt myself wanting to cave. What the hell had I done to myself?
Avro broke the heated kiss and turned his head my way. Water dripped off his chin and slid down his body in thin streams.
“Are you coming, or am I getting Jace all to myself?” He smiled at me, and my heart fluttered.
I had no idea what had gotten into me, but no one could say no to that eye candy.
Kaivan
Raine was late. She said that she was busy shopping with Avro. So, instead of sitting around the house like a sap, I came to the clubhouse for a drink. Now, I wasn’t sure that sitting with the obnoxiously loud group of people was helping my state of mind.
My fingers tapped off the top of the bar while I stared at the television tuned to the latest horse race. I wasn’t much for betting, I preferred certainties, but I could appreciate the rush of watching the powerful animals speed around the oval at a breakneck pace.
“Come on, Fartindawind,” Brick yelled at the television. “Yes, that’s it, Fartindawind, you can do it! Come on, girl. Push, push, push.”
I snickered as I swallowed down the last of my drink. Did Brick even know that he was yelling?
“Yes!” Brick yelled, and I watched in the mirror behind the bar as Brick jumped up with a yell and brought the sweetbutt that was sitting on his lap with him. “Fuck yeah, what a fucking rush. The next round is on me!”
“Big talk since the drinks are free,” Ink drawled.
“Shut the fuck up, man. It’s the thought that counts.”
As the two began to argue, I turned my attention back to my drink. I swirled the liquid around and watched it swirl up one side and then the other as if mirroring my own messed-up emotions.
“Hey there, Snake,” Dee said and ran her arm over my shoulders. “Do you want to spend a little time relieving your stress,” she asked, laying her other hand on my leg.
“We could make it a party,” Crystal said as she pressed against my other side. She was so close that I would only have to turn my head, and her tit would be in my mouth. The small piece of leather she wore would easily pull off and leave her ready. Could I appreciate that both women were talented? Yes, I could, but shit was a lot more complicated now.
