Addison was gorgeous. She was taller than me, curvier, and had shoulder-length brown hair that she straightened. She had round cheeks, a little pert nose, and was adorable.

She could also kick anybody’s ass in soccer, rugby, and a few other sports.

She worked for a financial company and rubbed shoulders with millionaires every day, as well as dude-bros in her company who thought that she was just a pretty little woman who should be getting them coffee. It wasn’t like we were in a new millennium where women could actually hold jobs and be CEOs. I worked with one of the best CEOs out there, and I hated that my best friend didn’t have the same work environment as me.

“Okay, let’s get you some caffeine, and you can tell me what happened last night.”

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“You called on your way to the bar to go save that poor bartender from your family. And then you never updated me. For all I knew, they had taken him out back and beat him. Or maybe they forced you into a wedding by shotgun or something.” She paused as she looked at me. “They didn’t actually do that, did they? I mean, I love your family. They’re amazing. But oh my God, they are so much.”

I snorted and shook my head. “I am so sorry I forgot to tell you. It was a long night.”

“Exactly how long. Please tell me that it was a long, longnight.” She emphasized the word long, and I burst out laughing, drawing the attention of patrons for a moment before they went back to their coffee and pastries.

“Not that long. But it was interesting.”

Before I could elaborate, Greer Cassidy looked over the register, and smiled at us.

“Hey, you two! It’s been a couple days since I’ve seen you. Your usual?”

I blushed and pressed my lips together, wondering how I could face this woman after kissing Heath. Heath must have kissed thousands of women before. He was a bartender, he was sexy. I wasn’t his first. No, I didn’t evenhavea first. Hell, I really needed to stop thinking about that. And stop thinking about the idea of Heath being part of that.

Addison elbowed me in the side and frowned. “Are you okay?”

“I’m fine,” I squeaked. I looked at Greer. “Actually, I’ll take the special. That looks good.”

“It’s a lavender honey latte, and what about a homemade pop-tart?”

“That sounds like exactly the amount of sugar that I need.”

“For here or to go?” she asked as she rang it up.

“For here?” I asked Addison, and she nodded.

“We’ll do one cup for here, and then we both need to head into our offices, so I’ll probably get a cup to go. Though I will take the crème brûlée latte for now.”

“Oh, that sounds yummy.” I said, my mouth watering.

“You both win there. Whenever you want your second cup, just let me know if you want a repeat, or something different. Don’t worry, I’ve got you handled. And if you are here for lunch, I have sandwiches coming up too.”

“Don’t tempt me. I’m starving,” I said as she handed over my pastry and Addison’s lemon poppy seed muffin.

We paid, and Greer gave me an odd look, before Addison finally pulled me back to our table, coffees and pastries in hand. “What is going on? What happened last night?”

“I don’t even know if it actually happened or if I’m imagining it.”

“Talk to me.”

I looked over my shoulder, seeing that Greer had gone back to the kitchen and Raven was working the front counter. I leaned over our coffees and whispered furiously. By the time I was done, Addison was staring at me, wide-eyed.

“I cannot even believe everything I just heard. You told him you were a virgin?” she asked, her voice low.

She might have whispered, but I still looked around, checking if someone could overhear. “There’s nothing wrong with that.”

“There’s absolutely nothing wrong with you being a virgin. Just like there’s nothing wrong if you want to stay that way or do something about it. But he wants todosomething about it, doesn’t he?”

I knew I was blushing. “Stop it. This is so embarrassing.”
