‘’Please sit’’ he said looking seriously at me, and the calm but authoritative tone to his voice made me sit instantly down on the luxury-looking couch.
I waited with curious bated breath as to what it was Hudson wanted to say to me, with a million thoughts all at once rushing my mind as he too took a seat on the couch beside me, and with a deep breath began to speak…
HUDSON POV:
I don’t know why I felt nervous all of a sudden, and whether smart or foolish, my mind was already made up…
‘’I’m not one to ever dither or sugar-coat things -in business or in life. And it’s the risks I’ve taken, and the confidence used to asses they were the right ones, that has made me the successful businessman I am today’’ I told Taylor, and I could see her looking mathematically curious at me, but I could also see I had her attention which was exactly what I wanted ‘’…I have a good eye for developmental success’’ I continued ‘’and invest only in what I know will benefit and prosper in the long run. With that said…’’ I said unbuttoning my suit jacket a little so I was more comfortable ‘’…never before have I been this certain, or this excited even to undertake the risk I’m about to take now. I say ‘risk’ simply because when others' emotions are involved, that naturally becomes part of the package. Which brings me now to what I wish to confront you about Taylor…’’ and I took another deep breath as I turned to face her fully on the couch ’’First of all a declaration: I in no way view, or will ever treat you like a charity case. I want and need to make that clear to you. But…what I witnessed tonight out by that alleyway, and more importantly the dangers a young lady like yourself can, and did, get in with unfortunate exposure to the streets -on top of meeting and getting to know someone who I find not only incredibly charming, but is both kind and intelligent too- I knew I couldn’t walk away from you tonight without giving you the chance you deserve in life’’ I told her ‘’the friend in me whom you met tonight wants from my heart, to help you reach whatever potential and desires are in yours. But, the businessman in me also recognizes the raw confidence you have, much like my own’’ I smiled ‘’and knows full well you won’t ever accept help unless you feel you’ve earned it. Which is why Taylor, if you let me…I would like to offer you a top-salary job as my personal assistant''
TAYLOR POV:
Gasp!
CHAPTER 10
The impact of the punch from Jeremy’s little bitch friend earlier tonight must have stunned me harder than realized, as my mind’s eye sat dreamily staring across at my #strangercrush Mr. Midnight, fantasized in the vision of him offering me a position of work with him, where I could indulge every depth of my crush day after day with whatever he wanted from me, in the beautiful close comfort we’d share toegt-
‘’What do you think Taylor? Does that sound reasonable to you?’’
‘Holy fuck’ number two of the night….I wasn’t dreaming was I? This was really fucking happening!!
‘’Y-you’re offering me a position to work for you??’’ I stuttered in utter disbelief, as the unbelievable in a miraculous chance meeting that night, was turning into the believable right before my very eyes!
‘’You’d be working with me. Both closely and personally. So if you accept Taylor, and I hope you do, then that’s something you’ll need to be fully comfortable with’’ he said looking seriously at me.
‘’What would I need to do?’’ I asked curiously.
‘’Well, with the busy life I lead, and the obvious office politics that go with it, I ideally want someone unconnected from the work office to assist me. Someone whom I can trust with organization of my life and busy schedule. Someone whose willing to travel with me and go shopping for me when needs be. Also to run fun errands such as booking restaurant venues for business meetings –some of which you may be asked to accompany me with on occasion to take notes, but would always be advised of that with plenty of due time’’
I sat equally stunned and overwhelmed by all the information Hudson just shared with me, figuring though there must be some semblance of smile imbedded on my face, as he sat grinning across warmly at me while continuing the extent of his unbelievable proposal.
‘’…just basic computer knowledge is needed for that which you already told me you have, so I’m confident you’ll find your footing in no time’’ he finished with a smile.
‘’Why would you do all this for me? Really, why me??’’ I asked with widened eyes across at him.
‘’You ask the wrong question, which ideally begs the right question because, why wouldn’t I?’’ he smiled.
I sat staring at him stunned still, trying to get my noggin to sync the validity of his words and bring me back to reality because, surely I was dreaming, right? I had to be. But I wasn’t. My Mr. Midnight, Hudson Avery, had not only acted as my saving grace that night, but was now proposing to rescue me out from the lonely hell of poverty I’d been living. I guess I just couldn’t believe it.
I looked at his face sat with a hopeful smile awaiting my answer, then down at my hands calculating in my mind the unique opportunity I was being presented with.
There really was only one answer…
‘’Yes. Yes, I’ll do it’’ I grinned across at him, doing my utmost best to suppress the excited squeal I could feel coming, the one ready to burst from my chest like fizzed champagne!
‘’Then it’s settled. Welcome to the team Ms. Wainwright’’ he grinned back, and in true businessman fashion Hudson stood from his seat, as did I, and welcomed me with a firm handshake and warm smile.
‘’Wait, with all the excitement I almost forgot to ask…what exactly is it that you do for work Hudson?’’
‘’I work for a large tech company’’
‘’Aww cool’’ I nodded ‘’I just still can’t believe though that you’re doing all this for me. I don’t even know the right words to say right now, well I mean of course there’s thank you, a MILLION thank you’s! But this is a pretty big deal you’re offering here, and well, I just want to make sure that you’re doing the right thing by hiri-‘’
‘’Are you a serial killer?’’
‘’No’’ I laughed.
‘’Crazy?’’
