Addison offered a little smile, but her eyes blazed with light. “Like what you see?”
“Hell, yeah. I’d love to see you later, if you don’t have plans.”
She stared into his eyes for an extra beat, then said, “No plans. In fact, I grabbed a ride here. Maybe I could bum one from you when I leave?”
“I’m all in, baby.” He shot her a smile, then headed back to his booth.
A couple was being escorted to a table nearby. Jacqueline glanced over, then did a double take.
“Ohmygod,” she murmured. “That’s my sister.”
Moving slowly, Addison peeked over her shoulder. “The blonde in the full-length fur?”
“Yes.” Jacqueline flicked her gaze to Addison, then peered over. Her sister was sitting with her back to her, but the man sat facing in her direction. Tanned, in his fifties or sixties with short, graying hair, he wore a dark suit and bright pink tie.
“That’s Leslie?” Addison whispered.
“Yes,” Jacqueline murmured. “Who wears a fur coat in May?”
“Someone who wants to show it off,” Addison replied. “When did she go blonde?”
“Since I’ve been gone.” Jacqueline bit into a stuffed mushroom cap. “She just moved into a million-dollar house in Reston.”
Addison’s eyebrows jumped into her forehead. “I thought she was working retail.”
“She’s an Instagram model,” Jaqueline replied.
“Who’s the man she’s with?”
“No idea. A different guy is staying at her house.”
“Should we go over and say hi?” Addison asked.
“God, no. She’s become completely self-obsessed. She’s even got the guy she’s with taking pictures of her.”
Addison glanced over as the server returned with their entrées. “Plates are hot, so be careful,” he said. “Can I get you another wine?”
“I’m good, thanks,” Addison replied. “There are two men two booths down behind me. One has short, dark hair and the other, long, blond hair.”
The server glanced over. “I see ‘em.”
“Is that one of your tables?” Addison asked.
“Sure is. You want me to send them a drink from you?”
“I’ll take their check,” Addison said.
“Wow, that’s nice,” he replied.
After the server left, the women dug into their dinners.
“I want to tell you something,” Addison said.
“Okay.” Jaqueline pierced the salmon with her fork and slid a small piece into her mouth.
“It’s about the Campus Killer.”
Jacqueline’s stomach dropped.
