Prescott
Nothingbetter than making Jack unravel around him. She’d always been responsive to his touch, but tonight she was different. More eager, maybe even more trusting. It could have been because he was in her home, in the middle of the night. Could have been any number of things. At the moment, he didn’t give a fuck.
He loved taking out evil, but it came at a price. His soul. No other way to explain it, but the missions took a toll on him.
Not tonight. Tonight, he felt alive. Being around Jack was exhilarating. He breathed her in and he felt complete.
She ended the kiss, pulled the condom packet off the bench and offered it to him. As badly as he needed to root himself inside her and fuck her good and hard, he was going to honor his promise.
He slipped his arms around her, pulled her close, and kissed her gently. “You came hard.”
She nodded. “Now, it’s your turn.”
He turned off the shower. “I told you that if you agreed to partner with me, I would take care of you. You alone. Not me.”
Surprise flashed in her eyes. “You did say that.”
“I’m a man of my word.” He wrapped her in a bath towel, pulled one off the shelf for himself.
Rather than leave the shower, she stood there, staring up at him. “You’re gonna have blue balls bad.”
“I get ‘em every time I’m around you.” He flashed a quick smile. “I’m getting used to it.”
In truth, it sucked. He was already spending too much time thinking about her, fantasizing about her too. Being with her and not appreciating her fully was torture, but he wanted her to trust him.
How else could he do that?
They toweled off. She slipped back into her panties and top. He pulled on his clothes, picked up his boots.
“Gotta say, I wasn’t expecting that,” she said. “Lemme walk you out.”
He eyed her bed, the rumpled linens. He hadn’t spent the night with a woman in a long time, but if she invited him to stay, he would.
She said nothing as they returned to the main room. He tugged on his combat boots, raked his hands through his damp hair. “I’ve got a team meeting in the morning. You wanna work together at eleven?”
“Sure.” She pulled out the hair tie, her auburn mane framing her face.
Stunningly beautiful.
“How are we going to manage with Ethan?”
“He went to daycare yesterday,” Prescott replied. “Turns out, he liked it, so he stayed all day.”
Her smile sent a shock of energy through him. “That’s great, for both of you. Where do you want to meet?”
“You good working at my place?”
“Sure,” she replied. “So, can you do me a favor?”
“I thought I just did you one.”
“Yeah, well that was ten minutes ago. I’m already looking for my next one.”
He chuffed out a laugh.
“I gotta show you something.” She got her phone, toggled through her photos, and tapped on a black German Shepherd puppy.
