“You bought me a present?”
“Yeah, and you handed me a prenup.”
She laughed. “I was doing that for you.”
“You, woman, are stuck with me. I’m a one-and-done man and you’re going to be my only wife.”
“Thank you.” She opened the small box “Oh, wow. I love these.”
Inside were three diamond charms. A dog paw-print, a diamond heart, and a golf bag filled with tiny golf clubs.
One at a time, she pulled them out, examined them, then kissed him. “Thank you, these are beautiful.”
“Not as beautiful as you, babe,” He captured her face in his hands and kissed her.
When the kiss ended, she straddled him. “Listen,” she said.
“I don’t hear anything.”
“Exactly.” She kissed him again. “I’d love to pay up on my golf debt. Are you interested, Mac?”
“There’s nothing I love more than loving my woman,” he replied.
“And there’s nothing I love more than loving my man back,” she replied with a smile.

I loved getting to know Prescott in the previous story, WRECKED. Of all his qualities, his loyalty stood out to me the most, and I wanted to write something where he feltcompelledto work alone, then put him in situations where he’d be forced into relationships where people depended on him.
Turns out, my muse did me one better. In the end, his entire company depended on him, as did the guests at the rehearsal dinner. No pressure there! Ha!
While I adore my badass heroines, I wanted Jacqueline to have a wound so deep that everyday life was a challenge. I loved her tender side, how she took to Ethan right away, how she struggled to reconcile her feelings for Mac with her feelings for Prescott. The more emotionally complicated my heroines are, the happier I am!
I also loved creating a story about three broken people who become a close-knit family and heal from the immense power of love.
Now, it’s time to turn my attention to what I think is going to be the sixth and final story in my Vigilantes series… Rebel and Britain’s story.
And you know, being Z’s daughter, Brit will be a major kick-ass woman. My muse is ready to dive in and start creating, so off I go again! And Rebel wasn’t given that nickname… he earned it. I’m excited to see where their journey takes them!
