“Britainneverlistens to me,” Z said.

“She’s a carefree spirit,” Addison replied. “Always has been.”

“I didn’t know they knew each other,” Prescott said.

“They just met,” Jacqueline said.

“They got friendly fast,” Hawk added.

“Looks that way,” Prescott replied.

IT WASAFTER MIDNIGHT when he and Jacqueline tucked an exhausted Ethan into his bed, then returned to the family room.

The house was quiet, the dancing flames in the fireplace cast a warm glow across the room. Prescott sat on the sofa while Jacqueline started cleaning up the glasses, mugs, and dessert dishes.

“Babe, we can do that in the morning. Come sit with me, honey.”

She curled up beside him and ran her soft fingers through his hair. “Today was fun, don’t you think?”

“It was great.”

“Tell me we don’t have an early tee time tomorrow.”

“Eleven. I put us down for eighteen, but we might stop after nine. We’ve got a full day tomorrow.”

Jacqueline smiled. “When don’t we? What else did you have in mind after I whip your ass on the course?”

“You won’t win, but I’m more than happy to pay up, if you do.” He kissed her, letting his lips linger on hers. “I thought we’d go Christmas tree shopping.”

“Are we cutting one down?”

“Hell, yeah.”

She smiled. “That’ll be fun.”

“I heard from my cousin, Mel,” Prescott said. “Her mom is divorcing Artemis.”

“No surprise there,” she replied. “Oh, that reminds me.”

She vanished into their home office, returning with papers. “For you.”

He read the first line and laughed. “What the hell? Is this a joke?”

“No, it’s a prenup.”

He stared at her. “Why?”

“I thought you’d want one. Your company is worth billions.”

He tore the sheets in half and set them on the side table. “We’re not getting a divorce—”

“Iknowwe’re soulmates, but I figured—”

“No, Jacqueline, no prenup.” He tipped her chin toward him and kissed her again. “On this day of thanks, I want you to know how much I appreciate you, and how much I love you.”

“I do know,” she replied wrapping her arm around his shoulders. “You show me every single day.”

He extracted a small jewelry box tucked between the sofa cushions and held it out to her. “For you.”
