“That’s perfect,” Addison replied.
Not only was Addison wearing a blonde wig with bangs, black-framed glasses sat perched on her nose. She was also rocking a goth look. Dark eye makeup, black lips, and a black, flowy dress. On her feet were black boots.
Addison slid into the booth and Jacqueline sat across from her.
“Is Hawk here?” Jacqueline asked.
“Two tables away. He’s with a friend, and he’s got bodyguards scattered through the restaurant.”
Secretly hoping Hawk was having dinner with his brother, Jaqueline glanced over. Her heart dipped when she spotted him with a good-looking man with long, blond hair.
“Who’s with him?” Jacqueline asked.
“His close friend, Rebel.”
“What happened to your sister?” Jacqueline asked.
“She’s running late, so she said we should order.”
“I thought she lived in Colorado,” Jacqueline said.
“She does, but she’s here for an art event.”
The server appeared. Addison ordered a glass of white wine, but Jacqueline ordered an iced tea.
“No wine?” Addison asked after the server left.
“I’m going to Asylum later and alcohol makes me sleepy.”
Addison regarded her for a long minute. “Are you playing with Mac?”
Just thinking about Mac made her smile. “Yeah, he’s so sexy.”
Conversation came easy with Addison.
“I know you can’t talk about work, here, but I’m really hoping you’ve made some progress,” Addison murmured.
Jacqueline sighed. Everyone wanted results and they wanted it yesterday. “I am, but it’s slow.”
Addison’s shoulders fell. “I was hoping the case could get resolved by my wedding.”
“I know, honey, me too.”
“Sorry, I’m being a baby. We’ve hired ThunderStrike, so everyone will be safe.”
“Is that a security company?”
Addison nodded. “It’s owned by Maverick Hott, a close friend of Jericho’s.”
The server returned with their drinks, told them about the specials, and took their order.
“How are things working out with Prescott?” Addison asked. “Don’t you just love him?”
“What? Love him? Why would I love him? I just met the man. I mean, he’s okay to work with. He’s been helpful, but love? I think that’s a bit much.”
Addison laughed. “What is up with you? I meant, isn’t he a great guy? It’s crazy that Hawk and I paired you guys up for the wedding and now you’re working together.”
Heat blasted her chest. Within seconds, her cheeks warmed and she took a long draw of her cold tea. “Pretty crazy,” she murmured.
