“Okay, now’s good,” she replied. “My parents’ divorce messed me up pretty good.”
The dream she’d had with him and the three young children popped into her thoughts.
Tell him.
“If I found my forever man, I’d love three… three children.”
“I like that number,” he replied.
“How ‘bout you?” she asked.
“It’s a fucked-up world, but I’d love to be a dad. Like you said, the most important thing is being with the right person. My parents had problems, but they handled everything together.”
“Did they fight?”
“They disagreed, but they were pretty decent about it. I heard my dad raise his voice a few times.” Hawk smiled. “When he did, my mom would tell him she wasn’t hard of hearingyetand to take it down a few notches.”
Addison laughed. “Your mom is so cool. So, are we good on that?”
He smiled. “We’re good.”
“You ready to be a godparent?”
“I’m ready for anything as long as it’s with you.”
“So romantic,” she said before dropping a tender kiss on his lips.
They made their way to Liv’s private room where she and Jericho were talking quietly. Liv was propped in bed while Jericho sat in the bedside chair, holding her hand.
Liv’s face lit up. “You made it!”
“Godparents extraordinaire,” Hawk replied. “We take our jobs very seriously.”
Jericho laughed. “We’re due for another contraction. Those are a ton of fun.”
Liv chuckled. “Easy for you to say.”
“I’ll do it,” Addison volunteered. “Jericho, you want a break?”
“A break!” Liv uttered.
Jericho kissed her. “I’ll grab coffee. Be back in ten.”
The men took off and Addison sat on the bed next to her cousin. “How is it, really?”
“It painful, but the breathing helps. When the contractions end, it’s fine. I think this is going to be like pushing out a watermelon.”
“Ouch,” Addison said, and they laughed.
Liv inhaled. “Here comes one. I need you to count out loud for me.”
As they managed through the contractions, Addison wondered if she’d want to put herself through this.
“Can I have the cup of ice?” Liv asked.
Addison handed it to her. “Are you hungry. Can you eat?”
“Some experts say eating is fine while others say not to,” Liv replied. “If I get hungry, I’ll have something light to eat.”
