“Thanks for being so cool about it,” Hawk said.
“I love you, Nicky. We’ve never been competitive or jealous of each other. Mom would have killed us both.”
They laughed.
Prescott got into his car and Hawk retreated inside for his car keys. Then, he slipped into his Mercedes and headed to Lost Souls.
Prescott was right. He needed to talk to Addison. It would be easy to continue having no-strings sex with her, but he needed to tell her the truth. Their relationship was too damn important to keep this from her. She deserved that… at the very least.

Addison couldn’t wait to see Hawk. While he’d been playing poker, she sent him an Invitation to Escape with a message. “Boss and prospective hire. Wear a suit so I can strip you out of it.”
Not only was ready for more, he’d wrecked her for any other man.
Now I know why these women throw themselves at him.
Tonight, she dressed in a pair of straight-leg dress pants, a lacy black camisole, a clingy suit jacket, and stiletto sandals. She loved role playing, but being with Hawk took it to a whole nother level.
From the moment she’d arrived at Lost Souls, she’d been handling one thing after another. Her chef had called out sick, so she and the cook had to pare down the menu. Then, she had to update the servers and bartenders.
Friday night meant the club was hopping from the moment the doors opened, which was great for business… until a health inspector popped in for a surprise visit. So, she followed the inspector around to ensure she answered all her questions.
Then, just as the health inspector was leaving, her sister called to catch up. When Addison told her she’d have to call her back, her sister burst into tears. An hour later, Addison was back on the club floor, mingling with members.
Two minutes after that, her second bartender flagged her down. “We’re getting slammed,” he said. “And I’ve gotta use the restroom.”
Addison hurried behind the bar and started chatting it up with customers while she served drinks as fast as possible. Even after the bartender returned, she stayed behind the bar to help out.
When they finally cleared out the crowd, Addison asked both bartenders if they needed a break.
“Can I talk to you in private?” Liliana asked.
Ah, crap, she’s quitting.
Addison loved owning the nightclub, but the turnover was way more time consuming than she’d anticipated. Once in Addison’s office, she asked if Liliana was okay.
“I’m so sorry about last night,” Liliana said.
Addison blanked. “Last night?”
“I had to leave.”
“No worries. Hawk covered for you.”
“I got my period early,” Liliana volunteered. “And I didn’t have my cup with me. Then, I got cramps so bad, I curled up in a ball.”
Addison had been there. “I appreciate your telling me, but you didn’t have to. Things come up.”
“You’re a cool boss,” Liliana said. “Thanks for understanding.”
Relieved, Addison smiled. “That’s it?”
“You seem like you’re doing better, you know, after you lost your friend,” Liliana said.
“I’m still sad, but I have to push on.”
“I totally get that,” Liliana said.
