“You have proof of this?”

“The night she went missing, she was going to meet him to tell him about the baby. We all know what happens when a powerful man’s status is threatened. Proof enough?”

“Killing a senator is serious. You sure you want to do this, Vivi?”

“An eye for an eye, Declan. I have to do this. It has to be done tonight. He doesn’t visit Vegas often anymore.”

“Fucking hell. Let’s go.”

She smiles. “He knows my face, so I can’t go down there with you. All you need to do is get him here and away from his guards. I’ll be the one delivering his judgment. Right after I get the answers I want.”

I search through the crowd, counting out five bodyguards. “How the hell am I supposed to do that?”

“Luther’s big thing is green energy. Just lie to him and say you have a proposition for him.” Vivienne turns away from the glass.

I look back down at the little weasel sitting on the bar. He looks too scrawny to do any actual damage to someone, but I learned a long time ago not to underestimate anyone.

After finishing my drink, I leave Simone’s office in search of my new target. I find Luther sitting at the bar, speaking to a plastic-looking woman.

“Mr. Daniels,” I say, interrupting their conversation.

He spins around in his chair. “I’m sorry, do I know you?”

“No. My name is Declan McBride. I own this casino you’re sitting in.”

He shakes my hand. “Nice to meet you. This is a great place you have here.”

“It’s a family business,” I reply. “I’d like to talk to you about implementing a solar panel mandate for large businesses.”

“I’m sorry, Mr. McBride. I’m not here for a business trip. You’ll have to make an appointment with my office.”

His voice is rigid. He’s clearly agitated with my attempt to cock-block him. He turns from me, jumping back into flirting with the blonde.

“That’s a shame,” I reply. “I was going to make a large donation to your next campaign. But I see that you’re too busy. I’ll take my idea and my money elsewhere.”

I step away from the bar and him. If he’s anything like Vivi described. He’ll take the bait. The only thing that can get a man moving faster than pussy is money.

I’m barely ten feet away from the bar when I feel his hand on my arm.

“Mr. McBride, is there a quiet place we can talk?”

Giving him a smile, I reply. “Let’s go to my office.”

His bodyguards close in around us.

“Alone,” I announce. “My idea is private.”

The senator looks a little fearful to tell his babysitters to fuck off.

“Time is money, senator.”

He looks towards the biggest guard, nodding his head.

“Great.”

“Ten minutes,” the bodyguard growls.

Little do they know; Senator Daniels will be long dead by then. So will they. I lock eyes with one of the security guards on the floor. I slightly nod towards the group of guards. He’ll know what to do. The Lucky Dove only hires ex-military for security and while they’re not part of my organization, they sometimes have to get their hands dirty to protect this place. This is one of those times.
