To be fair, there is a chance he would shoot Mateo, though I don’t think Mikhail is out to piss me off.

No, this is a peace offering.

And maybe more.

I walk towards the cottage and push open the door. I’m greeted by the sight of Mikhail, sitting on the couch with a gun in his lap. The similarity to Mateo’s position earlier makes me grin.

Mikhail looks up and gives me a smile of his own. It’s what you might describe as panty-dropping, though someone else might have backed out of the building quickly, seeing the ferocious beast that lurks under the teasing expression.

“Gianna, good to see you,” he says, and I’m pretty sure the formal words are the payback for my sending him away when he came to see me at the villa.

I nod in response. “You already know Mateo.” I gesture to my soldier, who still looks pissed because I prevented him from entering the cottage in front of me.

Where Mikhail is a ferocious mountain lion, Mateo is more of a cute Doberman. A good guard dog, but just as likely to snuggle up with his human for a little nap.

Mikhail gestures to the other chair by the fireplace. “Why don’t you sit down?”

My uncle is tied to a chair in the middle of the room, his expression outraged, but the duct tape over his mouth is preventing him from speaking.

I take the chair Mikhail indicated, ignoring Mario for now. His time will come.

Mateo positions himself to the side of the room, the gun at his side, ready to step in if I give him a sign. Not that I plan on doing so.

In fact, I’m more likely to send him outside so I can jump Mikhail’s bones.

What the fuck is it about the guy that makes my pussy turn into a needy bitch? And why does the sight of him, and the fact that he brought Mario here of all places, make me feel all kinds of excited? And not just the sexual kind.

“I’m here to give you something you want,” Mikhail says.

“What makes you think I still want anything to do with you?” I ask, but my voice comes out sounding husky, telling Mikhail exactly how much he is affecting me.

“The fact that you’re here.” He says, a smirk on his lips.

I nod, but then I push down the desire inside of me and boil everything I need to say down to one sentence. “I want to know what you want, so I can decide if I’m willing to give it to you.”

Mikhail grins. “I want you.”

Three words that have my panties soaked.

Behind me Mateo makes a strangled noise, but when I look over my shoulder, he quickly schools his expression.

I only allow my grin to show when I turn back to Mikhail.

“And what do I get in exchange?”

Mikhail nods to where Mario sits. “For starters, I brought you that fucker. I figure you’ll want to gut him for what he did to your father.”

This revelation has a shocked cough escaping Mateo, but this time, I ignore him.

“You’re right about that.”

Mikhail’s presence was enough to overshadow the rage I feel whenever I look at Mario, which says quite a bit about the power that he holds over me. But now that he has reminded me, I turn to look at the pathetic man who no longer resembles the uncle who used to tell me stories as a child.

This man is full of hatred.

This man is a murderer who killed his closest friend.

This man needs to die.
