He gripped my jaw. “Open your mouth for me.”
Releasing his hold, he pushed his hand between my legs, palming my pussy.
I cried out.
His fingers slipped past the silk edge of my panties to caress me.
He leaned in and bit my earlobe before whispering harshly, “I can feel how wet and ready you are. You were meant for me. It was you who was meant to be my wife, who was meant to bear my child. You, Bianca, not your sister.You.You were always meant to be mine.”
Over our labored breathing, I heard the metallic clicks of him lowering his zipper.
Oh, God.
A harsh knock at the study door broke the spell. “Enzo?”
It was his father, Don Cavalieri.
Neither of us answered.
After a pause, Don Cavalieri continued to speak through the door. “You’re needed. Benito just arrived. He has a coroner’s report.”
CHAPTER4
ENZO
My father knocked again. “Enzo?”
I called out over my shoulder, “I’m coming.”
I looked down at Bianca’s frightened, tearstained face.
I was a fucking monster.
I stepped back and turned. After zipping up my trousers, I faced her and ran a hand through my hair. “Bianca, I—”
She slid off the desk. “Don’t.”
She pushed her wrinkled dress back into place and leaned down to pick up her discarded hat and veil then moved toward the door.
I blocked her path.
Her body stiffened in response.
Raising my palms, I took a step back to give her space. “I shouldn’t have taken it that far. I just—I needed— Fuck! Please, Bianca. I need to see you again. We need to talk. I need to tell you about Rena—”
Her eyes widened as all the color drained from her face.
She staggered backward, slowly shaking her head. “No! I don’t want to hear it.”
Fresh tears fell down her cheeks. “I just want to forget that I ever knew you. That I ever loved you.”
She darted around me, unlocked the door and flung it open, almost colliding with my father as she dashed out of the room.
Papà sent me a questioning look. “Should I send someone to stop her?”
I bent to pick up my discarded suit jacket and shrugged into it. Clearing my throat, I said, “No. I’m sure Alfonso will send a guard to escort her home.”
He nodded. “I’m sorry, son.”
