"Did someone snitch? Did you place a spy cam on me?"

Andrew laughed.

"Ha. Why didn't I think of that? Unfortunately, I did none of that. However, Jerry did tell me about your argument last night. How Bethany was rude to Sophie and you didn't say anything, even though you were the subject matter.

The only reason why I'm not throwing my hand to your jaw is that I'm sure you did not invite Bethany and you must have ended things with her months ago after finding out it was a terrible mistake."

Jack nodded. He confessed to Andrew after his best friend called to invite him to his wedding, that he screwed up. Jack told him who it was and why it happened.

"The last kicker was when Sophie called me this morning to ask if I could make a last-minute correction to the sitting arrangement. She didn't want to ask Emily because she knew my fiancée would be worried, soif I could do it,it would be much appreciated."

He messed up. Terribly.

Jack sighed.

"Let me guess. She doesn't want to be seated at the same table?"

"As far as away as possible from Jack Williams, was her request."

Of course. It was only fitting that after all he had done, she would want to be done with him.

"I—" he started to explain himself to Andrew, but the other man placed a hand on his shoulder.

"It's okay. I trust you to handle this in a way that won't hurt either of you. Not dating, though, since you tried that in college and it ended terribly. I also wouldn't want to see Sophie go through that again."

Jack nodded. "I understand."

"Also, Sophie never slept with Jerry. She wouldn't stoop that low."

He nodded again.

"I thought as much."

"Good. So, I think we're done with all misunderstandings. Aidan is with my mom, so you don't have to worry about him throughout the rehearsal dinner. The only task I have for you, my friend, is to watch out for Jerry, Micheal, and the others.

"I can't have them ruining the rehearsal dinner for Emily."

"You have my word."

The location where they were to have the wedding was close to the house where Jack stayed with Sophie, but they did not go there together. He went with Andrew and according to his best friend, the maid of honor was going with the bride-to-be.

When they arrived Jack had to admit that they had outdone themselves. Sophie in particular. She was the one who made sure they didn't stray off the theme, despite his petty attitude and complete lack of understanding for her choices.

Vintage and fairytale, he remembered how she tried to drum it into his ear. When they finally arrived at a truce she did her best to show him items that fit the look and the ones that didn't.

They walked through ornate wrought iron gates that had pink decorations—flowers and vines. After the gates, there was a lush garden with winding paths and manicured lawns. The pinned flowers that lined the edges, he knew were Sophie's handiwork. The garden bloomed with flowers, including peonies and hydrangeas.

"Emily will be overjoyed," Andrew said and Jack could hear the happiness overflowing in his voice. "You and Sophie did a good job."

"She was the one who did an excellent job," Jack had to give credit where it was due and to whom it was due. "I just tagged along. She fought my stupid choices, even when I was being stubborn about it."

Andrew stopped and Jack noticed after he had taken two more steps.

"What?"

His friend shook his head.
