As I make my way to my room, I take in the breathtaking views of the resort. The vibrant colors of the tropical flowers, the crystal-clear waters of the infinity pool, and the palm trees swaying in the gentle breeze. The name of the resort, according to the sign, is Paradise Cove Resort.

I enter my room and immediately feel relaxed. The room is spacious and airy, with large windows that let in plenty of natural light. I drop my bag on the bed and head over to the mini fridge to grab a cold beer. I browse through the room service menu and decide to order the grilled shrimp skewers with a side of sweet potato fries.

As I wait for my food to arrive, I take a quick shower and change into comfortable shorts and a T-shirt. I settle in on the balcony’s hammock, taking in the stunning view of the ocean. I can hear the sounds of the waves crashing against the shore and feel the salty ocean breeze on my skin.

I check my phone and have no messages. Olivia said earlier that she is going to take a nap.

I wonder what Amber is up to but quickly dismiss the thought. It’s not my business, and I don’t want to pry. I decided to focus on the present and enjoy my stay at Paradise Cove.

The food arrives, and it looks and smells delicious. The perfectly cooked shrimp and crispy fries hit the spot, and the cold beer compliments the meal. I take my time, savoring each bite, and enjoy the peacefulness of the moment.

As the sun sets, I grab a book and head to the hammock on the balcony.

It has been so long since I just took time to unwind and read. I picked the habit up as we worked overseas, working hard to protect ourselves from the enemies’ line. This political thriller takes me right back and I can almost taste the sand, the sweat, the grit…

I take three deep inhales, reminding myself, grounding myself, that I am far away from all of it. From the gunfire, and the tension, and especially from the memory of her. The gentle rocking of the hammock and the sound of the waves lull me into a peaceful state. I’m ready to unwind and chill for the rest of this trip as Amber finishes up her work.

I stretch out on the hammock, feeling the gentle sway beneath me.

After a few minutes of reading, I decide to do a little bit of exploring around the resort. I am not one to sit in one place for a long time.

I step out of the room, closing the door behind me, and I take in the warm evening air of Cancun. It’s been a long day, and I can feel fatigue setting in, but I know that I need to unwind a little before turning in for the night. I briefly consider trying to reach Olivia again, but I decide against it and instead make my way over to the jacuzzi experience, as mentioned in the brochure that was left on my nightstand.

As I walk towards the jacuzzi, I can hear the sound of splashing water and the soft murmur of people talking. The air is warm and fragrant, filled with the scent of flowers and saltwater. I find a spot next to the jacuzzi and sit down, dipping my feet in the warm water. It feels good to relax after flying.

After a few minutes of soaking my feet, I decided to get in the jacuzzi. I carefully step in and feel the warm water envelop me. I let out a contented sigh as I sink into the bubbling water, feeling the stress of the day melt away. I lean back and let my head rest on the edge of the jacuzzi, closing my eyes.

As I relax in the jacuzzi, I can hear the sound of other guests around me, talking and laughing. I don’t pay much attention to them, though. I’m too focused on the warmth of the water and the quiet hum of the jets.

I’m trying to relax in the jacuzzi, taking in the views and the warm water, when suddenly I hear a soft splash. My heart beats faster as I turn my head and see Amber walking over to me in a tiny bikini. She looks incredible, her toned body glistening in the sun, her blonde hair cascading over her shoulders, and her green eyes sparkling. I try to avoid eye contact, but she glides over and sits beside me.

“Hey there, Jackson,” she says, her voice low and husky. “Mind if I join you?”

I swallow hard, feeling a rush of heat flood through me. “Uh, sure,” I say, trying to sound casual.

She sinks into the water with a sigh, and I steal a glance at her. My eyes rove over her body, lingering on the curves of her hips and the swell of her breasts. I shake my head, trying to clear my thoughts.

“So, how was the flight?” I ask, attempting to make conversation.

“It was fine,” she says, leaning back against the edge of the jacuzzi. “A little bumpy at times, but nothing I couldn’t handle.”

I nod, feeling a pang of guilt for cringing during the turbulence. “Glad to hear it.”

We sit in silence for a few moments. The only sounds are the bubbling of the water and the distant chatter of other guests. I try to keep my eyes fixed on the horizon, but I can feel Amber’s gaze on me.

“You know, Jackson,” she says, breaking the silence. “You don’t have to be so formal around me.”

I raise an eyebrow, surprised by her words. “What do you mean?”

“I mean, we’re going to be spending a lot of time together on these trips,” she says, her voice low and seductive. “We might as well get to know each other, right?”

I feel a shiver run down my spine as I turn to face her. “Yeah, I guess you’re right.”

She flashes me a smile, and I feel a flutter in my chest. “So, tell me about yourself,” she says, resting her hand on my arm.

I take a deep breath, feeling a rush of adrenaline. “Well, there’s not much to tell,” I say, trying to keep my tone light. “I’m just a pilot, doing my job.”

She shakes her head, her eyes fixed on mine. “I don’t believe that for a second,” she says, her voice soft. “I think there’s more to you than meets the eye.”
