“Again, undoing is more my specialty.” I narrowed my eyes and shook my head at him. Smug bastard was enjoying every minute of this. I threw it at him, which had him laughing again.
“Help me, you ass, or I am making you stay here and watch Disney films with me!” He rolled his eyes and walked over to me.
“I’m just saying, if you need help taking it off later, let me know.”
“You’ll be the first person I call.” He handed my bra back to me and I slid down the straps of my singlet top and carefully put the bra straps over my shoulders. Austin took both ends and carefully hooked it behind my back. From here, I could pull my singlet top over it to get it off.
“Is that all?”
“Yes, that is all. Thank you.”
“Are you sure?” I could feel him right behind me, his breath against my hair. Closing my eyes, I gave myself a minute. This man was testing my strength right now. Opening them again, I turned and looked up to meet his gaze.
“Well, no, but I thought we weren’t crossing that line while we are living under the same roof.” He moved his hand to my waist and pulled me closer to him.
“I am about to say fuck it and crash right over that damn thing.” I stood up on my toes, brushing my lips softly over his.
“What’s stopping you?” Before he could answer, the doorbell rang through the silence and forced us apart.
“The door for one.”
“You had better go and answer it then.” I took a deep breath, trying to clear the lusty haze that was now fogging my brain.
“Are we good?”
“Yep.” I gave him a smile. “Go see who wants to die tonight while I get dressed then we can go wherever you want to take me.” He nodded and dropped his hand from my waist. He didn’t look back as he turned and headed out the door. I changed out of my shorts and tank top into a dress and took my hair down from its ponytail with my good arm. Taking my hairbrush, I brushed out the knots that would be there from my shower earlier and let it hang down. Slipping my feet into a pair of flats, I checked to see if there was anything else I needed from up here, then went downstairs to Austin.
I stopped in my tracks when I saw him talking to Savannah. They both turned to look at me. “Hey. I’m not interrupting anything am I?”
“No, I am here to see you actually.”
“Oh? What’s up?”
“How are you feeling?”
“I’m fine, still sore but healing. Pretty sure I would have gone crazy without Belle and Austin though.”
“Austin told me that you were both on your way out, so I won’t keep you. I wanted to give you this.” She handed me an envelope.
“What’s this?”
“An olive branch.” I took it from her. “There is a letter in there that explains everything. I don’t expect you to keep it from Austin but if you could both keep it to yourself, I would appreciate it.”
“Does your husband know?” Savannah nodded at his question.
“Yes, he knows and it’s him who is extending this, not that I don’t want to as well, but he had to explain it all to Felix when Ally told him to send someone else to talk to her after her accident. He finally got through to him. This is his way of apologizing, and speaking of, Ally, I want to sincerely apologize for the way I have acted since you came back to town. I had no right to act the way I did. I hope one day you can forgive us for how childish we have been.”
“I get that the years Austin and I have been apart weren’t easy on you all. Me coming back at the time I did, also didn’t help, but you are right, I didn’t deserve that. You, I don’t have an issue with. Your husband… I don’t know. Acting the way that he did, was way over the top. Good to know he hasn’t changed. He never did know how to use his words.” She raised her brow at me.
“The snow globe he gave you from the winter carnival when he told you that he loved you. The scrabble tiles when he messed up and you weren’t talking to him for whatever reason. Do I need to go on?”
Savannah and Austin both just looked at each other.
“So, you mean to tell me, if we had of just told him to use his words, none of this would have happened?” I bit my lip to keep from laughing at Austin’s question. “Fuck me, let’s get that boy some paper and a pen.”
Savannah lost her fight first, and I couldn’t help but start laughing too.
“Anyway, I have taken enough of your time. Once you have read the letter, if you decide that you don’t want to do it, there will be no hard feelings. If you could just keep it to yourselves for a few more weeks.”
