“Where is everyone?”
“Ash is in the shower and Reno is having a sleep behind me. We’re all good, Bails.”
I push back while reaching forward at the same time, and they both shuffle closer without me asking.
“Are we really okay?” I ask Koda because he’ll straight up tell me.
“We are. Do you remember sort of what happened?”
I nod, and Henley’s hand wraps over my hips, his intoxicating scent blowing over my neck. “We got the guy who shot you.”
“Is he still alive?”
“Nah, but it wasn’t us who did that.”
“Good. When can I leave here?”
“We’re in no hurry, Bails. I’d like to see you stay another day, it would be better for you and hopefully the paps get bored of waiting.”
“They know?”
“Lennon has released a statement to the press confirming you were shot on site, doing a segment for The Gift. Which explained why you were at the omega centre. She went on to clarify that you are under watch by Pack Bailey and using this hospital ward because it’s so well fortified.”
“And what about the other thing?”
“Lots of other things going on,” Henley says, his hand splaying over my stomach, his warmth seeping into the cold I didn’t know I was suffering from. “Your secret is safe from the public, but we had to tell a couple of people.”
“Why?”
“Because we won’t risk losing you, Bails. I called Lennon to ask her to manage the media, but apparently who you are wasn’t a big secret to her.”
I huff a half laugh out, smiling at the knowledge of what a true friend Lennon is. There’s a reason we don’t catch up with each other often, but we speak more often than people are aware. We’ll probably see less of each other now, but it’s my life mission to change her life the way mine recently changed. We both deserve our happy ever after.
“Lennon is the only person in the world to know all my secrets, promise. There’s no one more fortunate than me when I found her. We go a long way back. Way, way, way, way further than the people I work with, including Carmen. Who else did you talk to about us?”
“Pack Miller are making a pretty big play behind the scenes because of rumours a new omega has been found. At this stage they don’t know it is you, and we want to keep it that way. They’re demanding access for DNA testing. We’re more invested in finding out the reasons they were involved in the shooting.”
“Really?” I recoil, and Koda winks at me, sliding his hand under my cheek leaning in for a quick kiss that turns long and slow, making me wiggle back against my other guy.
“Bailey,” Henley warns softly.
I take a big breath before asking, “Come on, Hen, I’m not dead. Who else?”
“Henley told the leaders of the Alliance. In case we need help. Advising them also is the proper and correct protocol to follow. Legally it cuts out any counterclaim, keeps you safe from Pack Miller down the track.”
“You’ve been busy.”
“Carmen wants to see you, but we’ve blocked her every request. She’s a little fucked off if I’m honest.” Koda shrugs, not at all concerned that she is annoyed.
“I’ll text her and she can come see me when I get discharged. We go when Reno is happy, okay?” I say, leaning back against Henley.
“Yeah, that’s better than okay.”
“Can I get you anything?”
“Hmm, I already know Henley is going to say no to sex, but surely a little orgasm or two would do me wonders?”
