"What the hell is going on, Valeri?!" he asked me.

"I ..."

"And why the fuck are you still standing in my way?!" Damon asked Gabriel.

"You're not getting near her."

"And you're going to stop me?"

"That's enough everyone!" Dominic said, but no one seemed to listen.

"She is my sister!"

"I heard you," Gabriel said.

"Then you better get out of my way, before I remove you."

"I would like to see you try."

"Please stop!" I said.

The two of them finally turned to me.

"No fighting!" I told them, but they both seemed like bombs ready to go off at any second. "Please!"

"Valeri is right," Lara said. "Why don't we all sit down and have a nice calm—"

"If you want my mate, then you will have to go through me," Gabriel said.

The silence was ... deafening. Everyone was just holding their breaths, as Gabriel finally told Damon the truth ... the truth, I had not been able to tell him, because I knew how he would react. I could even see the wheels turning in my brother's head, as he tried to wrap his head around it.

"Ah fuck," I heard Lara say.

"What?" Damon asked.

"You heard me," Gabriel said.

"No, I don't think I did."

Gabriel took a step closer to my brother, who did not move at all.

"If you want my mate, then you will have to go through me."

It was silent again. My brother turned his eyes to me, but I just looked down. I knew it was answer enough, because if I couldn't even deny it, then it had to be true.

"Your ... mate?" my brother asked.

Gabriel nodded.

"I see ..."

Silence again ...

What was my brother even thinking? What was he going to say? Would he blame me? He had to be angry. He never liked Gabriel and he never would. What was my brother going to do?!

"Then I guess I will have to kill you then."

Damon pulled a gun out and then aimed it right at Gabriel.
