“When I saw Valeri for the first time it … it was like I knew she was the missing piece,” I explained.

Dominic smiled too.

“Yeah, I know what that feels like.”

“You could have told me,” I said.

He chuckled a little.

“No, it can’t be explained. You need to experience it.”

“She makes my head spin,” I said, feeling my heart beating faster just from the thought of her.

“It is quite amazing. The bond, and our little mates.”

I nodded. I could only agree.

“It’s why I can’t lose her,” I said.

Dominic sighed a little.

“I understand. I do hope you will think about it though, but I understand,” he said.

Chapter 31

-Valeri-

I was staring at my phone, as Lara drove us home. I had said I would call Damon but so far, I hadn’t. I had even lied to Lara and told her I had tried calling but couldn’t get ahold of him and had left a voicemail explaining everything. Damon would never ignore me. He would see my name pop up on his screen and he would answer in seconds. I just … I just couldn’t call him. I wanted to, but I was afraid. I was afraid he would ruin everything, trying to drag me home, and I just wanted to enjoy this happiness a little longer. Was that so bad? I hoped not, but I couldn’t let go of this nagging feeling inside of me. I knew I should be honest, but it wasn’t always so easy.

“Okay, we are here,” Lara said, snapping me out of my thoughts.

I looked at the beautiful house in front of me, feeling almost like I was coming home. It was strange that I was already feeling like this, but I couldn’t help it. What had Gabriel done to me? I stepped out of the car, and then looked down the driveway. I should have wanted to go home to my brother, but I didn’t. I just walked towards the house right beside Lara, and inside, where we quickly found both our mates in the living room. The king hugged Lara close to him and Gabriel came over to me, kissing me, and I instantly melted into his touch.

“So, did you talk to your brother?” he asked.

I smiled and tried my best not to let my voice tell on me.

“Yes, or a voicemail. I explained everything.”

Why did I say that?! I shouldn’t be lying to my own mate! I just couldn’t help it. I simply didn’t want to ruin this happy feeling inside of me, and I knew my brother. Damon was stubborn and rarely listened to reason if he had made his mind up about something. I knew he would never accept Gabriel and would drag me home, and Gabriel would never let me go … It would end in a bloody battle, and I didn’t want to see that. I cared deeply for both of them. I just couldn’t let them fight over me.

“I don’t see any bags,” Gabriel said. “Did you not buy anything?”

“We gave them to two servants, they are setting everything up in your room,” Lara told him and winked.

Gabriel seemed so happy to hear this like I was actually moving in with him, and I could see the stupid big smile that spread on his lips.

“I love to hear it,” he said and turned to me.

“Really? You can still tell me you don’t want me here,” I chuckled.

“Never!” Gabriel said and kissed me hard.

I couldn’t stop my heart from beating so damn fast every time he kissed me. He had me under his spell. It was incredible. Gabriel was everything I had ever wanted. He gave me passion and happiness. He gave me excitement but also gave me a feeling of safety. How was that possible?! And I hadn’t even known him for that long.

I heard Lara giggle loudly, and I turned my head just in time to see her and Dominic run off. I smiled, knowing exactly why they had been in such a hurry, and I shook my head a little before I turned to Gabriel, who was looking at me with hungry eyes. I wrapped my arms around his neck, and his came around my waist.

“How are you so beautiful?” he whispered like he could actually not figure it out.
