“Damon can be a bit judgmental, yes,” Dominic said. “But maybe if he knew a little more …”
“You and Ace are the only ones who know, and let it stay that way.”
Dominic shook his head.
“You don’t think it was time you talked about it,” he said.
“Talked about my dead sister. Why?” I asked.
“Because you are acting like your parents right now,” he said.
“What?!”
“Refusing to even talk about her,” he said.
“Kathrine is dead … There is nothing else to say,” I said and looked down.
Dominic shook his head a little.
“Fine, you don’t want to talk about it, that’s fine, but at least try and understand Damon a bit here.”
“He will take her from me!” I said.
I could hear the slight growl in my voice. I couldn’t help it. Just the thought of losing Valeri … it was too much for me.
“He might not if he heard how serious you are about his sister,” Dominic said.
“You really think that would make a difference?”
“He thinks you just want to fuck everyone and everything.”
I cringed a little. Was that how everyone saw me?
“Tell him … No, show him that you are serious,” Dominic advised me.
I sighed, not sure if I should listen. I knew how Damon felt about me, and I was almost a hundred percent sure I couldn’t change his mind about me, but … but Dominic knew him better. Should I really talk to him?
“I don’t know, Dom,” I said.
“He deserves to know at least,” Dominic said.
“I know. Val will tell him.”
“But maybe it would mean more if you sought him out.”
“I think Damon will kill me if I take one step on his property,” I said.
“He sees you as the old you. The one you were over hundreds of years ago. You aren’t him anymore.”
“Aren’t I?” I asked.
“You think you are?”
“I am not sure how much I have even changed,” I admitted. “You don’t know how long I have felt bad about myself. I have had this dark and deep hole inside of me, nothing could really fill.”
“Had?”
I smiled.
