“I’m not that beautiful,” I said and felt my cheeks heat.

“You make my head spin, woman. That’s how beautiful you are,” he said.

I kissed him, not sure if I did it to thank him or shut him up because I was so bad at receiving compliments.

“Can we go for a drive tomorrow?” I asked.

“You want to try driving again?”

I nodded, biting my lower lip. It was late in the night, so the sun would be up soon. It was too risky to go outside now, but I wanted to spend my day tomorrow learning to drive again. I understood it a little better, but I still needed to find that confidence and be brave enough to drive a little faster.

“Anything you want,” he said.

“Anything?”

“I will give you anything you want,” he promised me.

I chuckled a little but felt so happy.

“Careful with those promises, my big bad hybrid mate.”

“Call me your mate again,” he told me.

“You want to hear me say it again?”

He nodded, looking so damn excited to hear it again. I kissed him instead, and then moved back a little, sinking my teeth into his bottom lip and hearing him growl lowly.

“My mate.”

He picked me up, and I squealed surprised, before Gabriel placed me down on a pool table behind me, kissing me hard.

“See? You’re making me lose my mind,” he said.

I chuckled happily.

“That’s not my fault!”

“Then whose is it then?!”

I smiled and then placed my hand on his cheek, looking into those beautiful dark eyes that only hybrids had. I knew people said they look bottomless and scary, but that was not what I saw. I saw dept. I saw a presence behind those eyes, watching me just like Gabriel was watching me now, full of want and need.

“But really,” he said. “I would give you anything. Know that.”

“What if I wanted someone dead?”

“Say the name!”

“Gabriel!” I laughed.

He smiled and kissed my forehead.

“What? I will always keep you safe,” he said.

“You’re making so many promises."

“Because I know I can keep them.”

“So bold!” I teased.
