“It’s so sweet that you remember,” I said honestly. “I told Tovah you were about to cut in.”
Jude and I moved in perfect sync after having danced together so many times, even just around our house. He maneuvered us around the other couples on the dance floor, and I couldn’t help but laugh as I watched some of the other couples who were just learning. Jude pushed me away and spun me around before he pulled me to him and we got back into rhythm together.
By the time the song changed, I was nearly out of breath. Luckily, it was a waltz with a slower pace, so I had some time to catch my breath.
“I could dance with you all night long, but I suppose we should mingle,” Jude said as he looked down at me.
“Not yet. There’s nowhere I’d rather be than right here in your arms.”
“That’s right where you belong, my Blue.”

BERNADETTE
“Thank you so much for your help today,” Maylee told Debbie, the makeup artist we’d used. “You were so kind to put everything on hold while I got my daughter down for a nap. I really appreciate you.”
“Are you sure there’s nothing else we can do for you before we go and help the others get ready?” Debbie asked as she closed the suitcase that held her hair and makeup supplies.
I looked at the other women, lounging around, their hair and makeup finished early so they could relax before it was time to get dressed for the wedding.
“Frankie wants us to help her get dressed, and then we’ll all put our dresses on before we go downstairs,” I explained. “You’ve all been wonderful. Thank you so much.”
“It was our pleasure.” The rest of her crew who’d been working for a few hours on our hair and makeup nodded in agreement and Debbie continued, “I don’t think I’ve ever had this much fun on a job.”
“We’re probably not the usual clientele for this hotel,” I admitted.
“I can guarantee we’re not,” Maylee agreed before she gave them one last goodbye and then walked over to open the door for them.
After they were gone, I stuck my head out to talk to Joe who was standing next to the door and Kyle, standing closer to the elevator. They had been standing in the hall since we got here. “Do you guys need a bottle of water or anything?”
“No, thank you,” Kyle answered.
“A pee break? A snack?” I laughed and then asked, “A chair?”
“We’re just fine, ma’am,” Joe assured me.
“Will you be here all afternoon, or is someone coming to relieve you before we go downstairs?”
“We’ll be here. We got word that the nanny will come and get the children in about an hour, and then Lorenzo and Carmine will join us so we can escort all of you downstairs.”
“Sounds like a plan. You guys let us know if there’s anything you need, okay?”Maylee told them.
“Yes, ma’am.”
“It’s good that we have a little time,” Maylee said as I shut the door. “Boo’s been napping for about half an hour, and if the nanny comes down in an hour, that will give her a solid nap.”
I walked with Maylee through the small foyer into the living area of the suite and laughed when I looked around. “You’re all sitting so still that you look like mannequins.”
“Did you see what that woman did to my hair?” Blue asked. “There are so many bobby pins in there that I’m afraid if I turn my head, I’ll get stabbed and start bleeding everywhere!”
“But it’s beautiful,” Maylee tried to reassure her.
“I know! It looks fan-fucking-tastic, but I’m afraid it might be deadly.”
“I don’t think I’ve ever looked so glamorous,” Paula said as she touched her hair.
“Don’t touch it!” Jenn snapped as she grabbed Paula’s hand.
