Both girls nodded and headed back down the hall without another word, but she didn’t miss the self-satisfied smirks on their faces. Just before they went through the door, Wren poked her head back out and said wickedly, “You know we’re all due for our period tomorrow or the day after, right? We’re about to see just how big of a bad biker Rogue is over the next week.”

Scarlett stared at her and then started laughing. Oh hell. Wren was right. Guess there was nothing like a trial by fire, she thought as she headed down to her bedroom.

CHAPTERTWENTY-EIGHT

ROGUE

“You so much as look at them sideways and I’ll kill you, got it?” Rogue snarled at the confused prospects in front of him. He didn’t give a shit, because as far as he was concerned, they were nothing yet. A couple of them were eighteen, which meant that they were still horny teenage boys and he had no doubt they were thinking with their dicks more than their heads.

The food had been delivered, and eaten and Scarlett was taking a shower while the girls finished setting up their room. He figured it was a good time to make sure the point was driven home.

“Sure thing, Rogue,” one of them, Tom, said seriously.

“I’m not into jailbait anyway,” another one, Sam, said nonchalantly.

Rogue’s anger swirled higher inside him as he lashed out and grabbed him by the shirt, making him yelp in surprise and fear. “Ever refer to them that way again and I will kill you where you stand,” he hissed at him, furious.

Sam nodded quickly, eyes wide and full of terror. “Yes, Rogue. Sorry,” he rushed out.

Rogue let him go, not caring when the stupid kid stumbled and fell on his ass. He looked at the other two prospects who, wisely, didn’t say anything, just nodded. “Get the fuck out of here,” he ordered them. All of them hurried away, but the only one who looked calm was Tom. Rogue wasn’t sure if he was impressed or not that he hadn’t flinched when he had been intimidating them.

“You know, if you keep scaring away our prospects, we’re going to have trouble finding more,” Savage said drily as he and Fury made their way towards him from across the road.

Rogue shrugged. “We don’t want pussies around here anyway. Can’t handle one of us losing our temper, then they don’t belong.”

Fury nodded his agreement. “Half of them will quit soon anyway, or we’ll boot their asses. Tom has some promise, but he hasn’t been around long enough for me to have more of an opinion. So why were you scaring the shit out of them?”

“Told them if they so much as look at the twins, I’ll kill them,” Rogue said darkly. He meant every word of it too. They might not be his kids, but he was going to make sure they were safe, and he didn’t need some lowlife trying to take advantage of them.

“I think the girls are more than capable of saying no, brother,” Savage said easily.

“Doesn’t hurt to remind the prospects though,” Fury defended. “The girls are only fifteen.”

“What made you do that anyway? One of them make a comment?” Savage frowned at the thought.

“Fucking Wren made the comment about them being good looking or some shit. Something about eye candy, I don’t know,” Rogue growled, pissed all over again.

Fury and Savage chuckled. “Sounds to me like they were trying to bait you and you took it,” Fury smirked. “Damn, brother, I thought I was all in, but you sound like an overprotective dad already.”

Rogue glared at him. “I’m not their father, but they’ve been through enough and I’m not about to have these assholes making it worse. They don’t need to date anyway. Already told them that I’m going to put them in a convent if they keep pissing me off.”

Both men snorted. “Something tells me they wouldn’t take them,” Savage chuckled. “Damn, man, this is why I don’t want girls. Gotta worry about boys and all that bullshit, and I’m liable to kill the first asshole who thinks he could date my daughter.”

“Just imagine if there were two of them at the same time,” Fury needled, a wicked grin stretching across his face. Savage scowled darkly at him, making Fury laugh. “Damn, man, if you do end up having girls, I’m going to laugh so damn hard. You’ll be so fucked. But at least Rogue could give you some tips by the time the teenage years come around.”

“I hope you have a whole bunch of girls,” Savage ground out.

“See, you think that scares me, but it doesn’t,” Fury smirked. “I mean, I’d rather have a mixture of boys and girls, but they’ll all be like Esme, and that woman is perfect, so any daughters of mine would be too. Hell, they’ll give any boys you two have a run for their money when they get older.”

Savage and Rogue exchanged ayeah-rightlook. “Whatever,” Savage said. “I’m going back home and gonna try to convince my woman to relax tonight. Though she’s feeling pretty good, and I guess the girls hanging out was a good thing.”

“We didn’t come home to anyone dead or maimed, so I count that as positive,” Fury agreed.

Rogue snorted. “For now. They’re just testing the waters, but I’m sure before long we’ll be having a different discussion.” He nodded at them and walked back up the steps and into the apartment. Most nights, he would head to the clubhouse to drink and relax, but tonight, he had no interest in being around anyone else. He and Scarlett had some unfinished business from earlier, and he didn’t plan on waiting much longer.

He locked the door behind him and then headed down the hall, noting that the girls’ bedroom door was open. He glanced at the shut bedroom door, where he could faintly hear the shower running, and then moved towards the open door. He looked in and saw them sitting on their beds, Wren writing in the notebook he had grabbed for her, with Win reading a book. “You good?” he asked them.

Both looked up at him and stared at him. “Why wouldn’t we be?” Win asked. “I mean, sure, we have traffickers after us that want to sell us to the highest bidders, or just kill us outright.”
