“Wouldn’t you like to know,” he taunted.

“This is not the time for jokes,” Lewis snapped, obviously not impressed. “These assholes have you back on their radar, and they’re not going to let you go without a fight.”

“Rogue is looking into it,” Win said.

“That’s another thing. Who is this Rogue guy?” Lewis demanded.

“Scar’s boyfriend,” Wren replied helpfully. “He’s a big guy too, and he’s scarier than you and Marc. I mean, if we didn’t know him, we’d probably be scared of him.”

“Keep that in mind if you ever piss me off again,” Rogue’s voice said darkly from the doorway.

They all yelped and turned around from the dining room table to glare at him. “Who the hell is that?” Lewis demanded.

“Uncle Ro-Ro,” Win cooed with exaggerated excitement.

“Uncle Ro-Ro?” Marc laughed, drowning out Lewis’s growls of annoyance. “Damn, girl, I knew you were getting to be a smartass, but I didn’t realize that you had reached this level already.”

Scarlett eyed Rogue and noted his annoyance, but she wasn’t sure if that was because of the nickname or the earlier issue with the tampons. She also noticed the tension in his shoulders.

The guys had been in Church for hours until finally all the women had headed to their own homes. Royal and Harlow were tired, and Esme and Karissa were both ready to call it a night. She and the girls had gone back to the apartment, but it wasn’t long before Lewis and Marc had called. Which of course, led to this moment.

“Convent,” Rogue replied mildly, coming to stand behind Scarlett’s chair, resting a hand on her shoulder.

“What convent?” Lewis demanded. “What the hell is going on right now?”

“Calm your tits, my friend,” Marc answered easily. “Scarlett, we’re going to hang up and then call you back on FaceTime. Make sure you answer so Lewis doesn’t do something crazy like pack up and drive down there.”

They both clicked off and Scarlett groaned. “Damn it,” she sighed. “Alright, Rogue, be ready.”

Rogue looked down at her and arched a brow in question.

“Ooooh, I can’t wait to see their reaction to Uncle Ro-Ro,” Wren giggled.

“Stop calling me that,” Rogue snapped at her, even as Scarlett’s phone rang.

“But why?” Wren whined dramatically. “You’re my Uncle Ro-Ro. You should be happy I bestowed you with a nickname. At least I didn’t call you Uncle Ass-Face or something equally horrible.”

“Uncle Ass-Face?” Marc chortled, drawing their attention. Scarlett tried not to grin, but she had to bite her lip. She looked directly into Marc’s laughing face, and then saw Lewis’s scowling one pop up seconds later. “Damn, that’s a good one. I’m using that the next time these Privates get out of line.”

“Who gives a damn? I want to see who the hell is looking after our girls,” Lewis snapped. “Hand him the phone, Scarlett.”

“Not until you promise you’re going to be nice,” Scarlett warned him.

“Nice is for sissies,” Lewis growled back. “I don’t trust your safety to any-damn-one, woman, and you know it. Now, hand him the phone, or I’ll be on the next plane.”

Scarlett opened her mouth to growl back at him, but Rogue reached down and took her phone, making her glare at him. He ignored her and looked into the phone with a neutral expression. “Name’s Rogue,” he said simply. “I’m Scarlett’s man.”

“Rogue’s not your legal name,” Lewis said darkly.

“Only one you’re going to get,” Rogue returned evenly.

“I’ll find out anyway,” Marc said dismissively. Any joviality was gone, and in its place the hardened Marine was used to giving orders and expecting them to be obeyed. “You got a place you can talk?”

“Hey! No fair, we want to hear,” Wren cried.

Rogue ignored her and headed out the door, phone in hand. Scarlett stared after him, torn between following him and going to bed. It had been a long ass day, and she was tired.

“Damn it,” Win moaned, flopping back in her chair. “Why’d they have to ruin our fun? It would be funny to listen to those two grill him.”
