He scowled. “Fuck. Nevermind, I’ll get your shit myself. Write down what you need and I’ll grab Razor or someone to go with me. Just make sure it’s essential and easy for me to find. Anything else, we’ll buy you new. Got it?”

“Easy-peasy,” Wren said with a smile.

Rogue gave her a narrow-eyed stare, before looking back at Scarlett. “You alright?”

Scarlett nodded. “I need to decompress for a little bit.”

“We need to let Marc and Lewis know what’s going on or they’re going to freak the hell out,” Win added.

Rogue looked annoyed at that, but nodded. “Fine. I’ll have Code put a scrambler on your phones so no one can track them, just to be safe. I’ll be back as soon as I can. I’m not sure how long Church will take.”

“Are we safe to walk around the compound?” Scarlett asked him. “Or do we need to stay cooped up in here?”

“You’re safe here,” Rogue assured her, stepping forward and cupping the side of her face in his palm. He looked into her eyes and repeated, “You’re safe here, Scarlett. I promise.” He turned his head and looked at both girls. “You too. No one will get to you here.”

Wren and Win both nodded solemnly. Scarlett felt her heart melt just a little bit at the trust in their eyes. None of them trusted easily, but Rogue had proven himself in such a short amount of time.

“We’re fine,” she promised him, stepping back and forcing herself to give him a reassuring smile. “You go and do whatever you need to do, and we’ll get you those lists. I’m going to air this place out a bit, and figure out what we’re going to eat. I’m starving.”

Rogue nodded. “The place is stocked, but not sure with what. You don’t find what you want, text me and I’ll have one of the prospects go and pick up some food.”

“So, you just have these prospects doing whatever you say huh?” Wren asked, clearly intrigued.

Scarlett glared at her. “No, whatever you’re thinking, get it out of your head right now, Wren. They aren’t going to be your personal butler in any way shape or form. Or help you with whatever scheme you’ve got brewing. And that goes for you too, Win.” It was best to cover all bases with these girls.

“They won’t do it anyway,” Rogue told them. “Prospects are here to prove they want to be a part of the club. The only ones they answer to are patched brothers and the Old Ladies. You try to mess with that, it could ruin their chances. If they want it bad enough, they’ll just ignore you.”

“You make it sound like I was going to have them help me rob a bank,” Wren pouted.

“With you, you never know,” Scarlett muttered.

“I gotta go, so behave,” Rogue ordered, looking at both girls. Then he turned, grabbed her by the waist and hauled her against him before taking her mouth in a quick, hard kiss. Scarlett smiled against his mouth. “I almost want you to misbehave,” he said softly when he pulled his mouth from hers. “I already owe your pretty ass a few spankings.”

“We can still hear you,” Win called from down the hall. “If this is how it’s going to be, I’m adding noise cancelling headphones to the list. The really expensive ones.”

“If it means I get to hear you scream my name, I’ll buy the most expensive ones on the market,” Rogue murmured, giving her another quick kiss. Then he pulled away and headed out the door.

Scarlett stood in the living room for a moment, looking around and wondering how the hell her day had gone from great to shit so quickly. She sat down on the couch and put her head in her hands, all the emotions she had been trying to keep at bay rushing forward.

They found them. Slicer recognized her, and now she knew he was working with a team… had they been biding their time to grab them? The other man and woman she hadn’t even seen until Code pulled up the video. God, there had been three of them, and if they had grabbed the girls.

Panic choked her, and she fought to swallow it down. They were safe, she tried to remind herself. Rogue and his brothers saved them, and were going to keep them safe. She wasn’t thrilled that they had to move on to the compound, but if there was one thing that she knew Rogue was right about, it was that this was the safest place for them to be.

She didn’t like that he had been high-handed and bossy about it, but that was a discussion for another time. She had to get the girls somewhat settled and figure out food. Everything else, all the emotions and worries she was feeling, would have to wait until later.

She stood and headed for the kitchen. Looking around, she summarized that they were indeed stocked with all kinds of canned goods, but nothing fresh. No veggies or fruit, and no milk or juice. Just some bottles of water, beers, and processed foods. She wasn’t really surprised, because this definitely looked like a guy’s place. She searched around until she found a pen and some paper and started making a list.

If they were going to be staying here, she needed this to be as normal for the girls as possible. And for herself. Routine would help steady her, she told herself.

“I figured the bedroom would be a mess, but it’s surprisingly clean,” Win announced as she and Wren came back down the hall. “Your bedroom is clean too, but you probably want to change the sheets. I wouldn’t put it past those horndogs using this place as a hook-up spot.”

Scarlett rolled her eyes. “I plan on it,” she assured them. She looked at them. “Are you both alright?” she asked seriously.

Wren and Win shared a quick look, but it was enough for Scarlett to see the worry in their eyes. “We’re just happy to be here and not being taken by surprise,” Win answered honestly.

“I mean, I would rather be at our house, with our things, but I get why Rogue is insisting we stay here,” Wren added. “We’re still running on adrenaline, so it’s probably going to hit us later when we’ve had time to settle.”

Scarlett nodded. “Are you alright with Rogue staying here? If you’re not, I can tell him to stay at the clubhouse at night.”
