“Oh, yes you are. You look too good to stay hidden up here.” She turned, grabbing the lilac fabric from the bed, shades lighter than her hair. As she pulled it on, a smile tugged at my lips. It was beautiful, long and flowing, swooping down her back to reveal swirling purple tattoos that extended the entire length of her spine.
“That looks incredible on you.”
She turned, holding her hands out to her sides to show it off. It swooped in the front just as it had in the back, revealing her cleavage.
“Alright, now I don’t feel as bad about how much skin I’m showing,” I gushed, laughing.
She rolled her eyes as she took my elbow and led us to the doorway. “You should never feel ashamed showing your skin. It’s just that. Skin. That of which the Goddess gave you, no less. You should be proud.”
And suddenly… I was. I did feel beautiful in this dress, so while my heart thrummed with anticipation and excitement, I held my chin high as we descended together.
As we exited the stairwell, I glimpsed Doran with a female who looked exactly like him in the foyer. She had the same white blonde hair with the same icy, blue eyes and pale skin. She was a little shorter than him, but couldn’t be much younger, if at all. They had to be related.
“Who is that?”
Thana followed my gaze and froze.
“Delphy?” she shouted and the woman’s eyes shot to us, her face lighting up.
“Thana!”
They ran to meet each other and embraced in a tight hug. Doran smiled as he watched their reunion. Pulling back from each other, they spoke in unison.
“How have you—”
“Oh, I have missed—”
They both laughed.
“You first,” the woman said.
“How have you been? You look…” Thana’s eyes did an up-down as her mouth tilted up in a warm smile. “Well. You look well.”
“And you look ravishing,” the woman said and Thana’s cheeks blushed. “I’m good. I was in Blackburn, actually. I had just arrived there a few days prior when I received word from Doran.”
Thana cocked her to the side as her eyebrows pulled together. At the mention, Doran’s eyes darted to me and he stepped forward, clearing his throat.
“Well, we have much to talk about, sister. Why don’t we go to the library? I’m sure Alden would love to see you while we’re here too.”
His sister, then.
She rolled her eyes at him and hugged Thana tightly again, peering over her shoulder. Her eyes widened as she spotted me. She whipped her head back to Doran. He gave a quick nod and she released Thana, stepping around her as she strolled toward me.
“Hello, I’m Delphia, Doran’s twin sister. You must be Ara. I have heard quite a lot about you.”
“I can only imagine the things you’ve heard, but yes, I’m Ara,” I replied.
She beamed at me with the same warm disposition as her brother.
“Hopefully, Doran will give me a moment of free time during my stay.” She looked over her shoulder, sticking her tongue out at Doran, and I stifled a laugh as he sneered at her. “I would love to sit with you sometime and we could talk, get to know each other a little.”
“Yes, I would love that.” She nodded, grinning, and turned back to Doran as he stuck his elbow out to her. She took it and they continued down to the library.
“She seems sweet,” I said as we continued to the breakfast room.
“Oh, she is. We’ve been friends for as long as I’ve known her.”
“When did you two meet?”
