No life.

No life.

No life.

My vision blackened as those two words echoed endlessly in my skull.

Agony ripped through me and I screamed, shredding my throat.

The sky cleaved in two as a long streak of lightning cracked across the sky just before it went dark, blotting out the sun. Roaring rain released, beating down.

Wind whipped all around me as I crumpled to the ground, folding in on myself.

A tunnel of wind and rain formed around me. Screaming filled my ears.

It was overwhelming.

The pain.

Take me with you, I silently pleaded to Rogue. Although, I knew he couldn’t hear me. He would never hear me again.

Take me with you.

Take me with you.

Electricity hummed and popped around me, my hair standing on end. I threw my head back and a guttural scream ripped from my chest.

I screamed at the sky, who saw everything and did nothing.

Rain pelted my face as murderous lightning rippled across the black clouds and I shot my hand to the sky.

Lightning struck me, pulling me into its embrace.

For a moment, I could breathe.

For a moment, I could forget.

For a moment, I hovered between my realm and the realm that was just energy. That just observed.

I opened my eyes to find another pair of gray eyes staring back at me. Older with smile wrinkles in the corners. They were strained as a whisper surrounded me,Go.

I almost wanted to stay. To spare myself from the impending devastation that awaited me.

But they needed me.

Heneeded me.

Lightning struck the ground near Rogue’s body and dropped me. I staggered to my feet and ran to him, tears pouring down my cheeks, washed away by the rain.

I slowed as I neared him and dropped to my knees. My hands trembled as they hovered over him.

“Please, Rogue. Please.” My hands gripped his arm as my head fell to his shoulder. I scrunched my eyes, staving off the sobs tightening my throat. “I-I—”

I need you.

Sitting up, I carefully pulled the arrow from his chest, wincing at the sound, and tossed it aside.

“You are not leaving me,” I managed, shaking my head, and delicately placing my hands on either side of his chest. “You arenotleaving me.”
