“Tell me everything. It was a long time ago that I was in high school.”

“King of the school, right?” she whispers with a forced smile on her lips. There might be a strain in her mouth, but I can see the flames of desire dancing in her eyes. “You were the guy that everyone wanted to date. So, I don’t think I’m the only one who you made an impression on.” I frown, because I don’t want to think about other women right now. “I bet it was the same in London, right? I bet you had lots of women after you.”

Is she trying to deflect?

Nah, because I’m sure she wants to flirt. She’s probably just trying to resist because my brother might come back at any moment.

“None of them made the impression you did.” I lean in, allowing my breath to tickle her lips. She probably thinks I’m about to kiss her, but I won’t.

I like the teasing more than anything else.

Especially with Lexi. “I’m glad I ran into you again.”

Her eyes remain firmly fixed on mine, it’s almost as if we can’t pull our eyes away from one another. We’re locked in, unable to drag our gaze away.

I love it. She runs her tongue along her lip. I bet she has no idea how freaking hot that is. I wish that tongue was tasting me right now, with her lips wrapped around my cock, as she sends me to heaven.

“Before you got to New York, am I right?” she asks, trying her hardest to shatter the magic of the moment before we get too caught up in it. “When are you leaving?”

I shrug quickly because I don’t want to talk about New York now. I’m trying to get my mind off all that shit. Honestly, chatting with my mom has only made me more confused than before. Now I don’t know if I should just get the hell out of here and to New York already. I don’t want to worry about that right now, I just want to flirt with Lexi. To enjoy this strange, tense back and forth that we’re sharing is the most intense feeling I’ve had in a very long time. I don’t want it to end, I’m enjoying every damn minute of it.

With her in my eye line, nothing else matters. All I can see is her. All I can feel is the sexy connection we had last time we were together at the graduation party, when we were both young and carefree and didn’t need to worry about everything. I’m giddy with that sensation.

“I don’t know what I’m doing as yet, but Idoknow what I want to do while I’m here.”

I wiggle my eyebrows playfully, making her blush all over again. She knows that I want her, and I feel like she wants me too. Just because it’s been five years and we’ve both changed a lot, doesn’t mean we can’t have a good time together again. I bet it’ll be even more explosive this time around, I can only imagine the chemistry will be intense.

She doesn’t know how to react, I can see a wide range of emotions flooding her face, but that only draws me in nearer. I lean in a little closer, inhaling her delicious, sweet scent. She smells like flowers, and makes my pulse absolutely pound with excitement.

Fuck, I know I said that I wouldn’t kiss those lips, but how can I resist when they are so tempting?

I bite down on my bottom lip as I get a little closer, embracing the heady thickness to the air. We might as well be drowning in lust; the heat is so overwhelming. I can only see Lexi at the moment and she’s so freaking beautiful it hurts.

The fact that Lexi is moving towards me as well nearly knocks me off my feet. She’s been cold and iced me out as much as she could, but can’t keep it up. Of course she still wants me, she’s had a crush on me forever, right?

That is what she said.

My eyes grow heavy and hooded, desire trickles through my veins. I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to kiss someone quite this badly, aside from Lexi when we were in that bedroom on the night of the graduation party. It’s almost as if no time has passed since the last time we were together. It might as well be five years ago all over again…

Ding!

Fuck. The door makes that fucking annoying noise alerting everyone to someone coming in. Nowthatshatters the magic of the moment for sure. Lexi tried to do it a couple of times, but she couldn’t. Someone else has managed it though, whoever it might be.

If I could wring their neck I would because I was almost about to experience fireworks.

“Josh? What are you doing here?”

“Wyatt?” Shit, what did he see? He might kill me for trying to hook up with his employee. It is a bit out of line, especially because he might not even know about our history. I don’t think anyone is aware of the special night we once shared. I didn’t stick around in the country for long enough to tell anyone, and I don’t know if Lexi did either. “You’re here?”

“Yeah.” He holds up a take-out bag. “They didn’t have any tables, so we got some food to bring back. I got loads so if you want to come and hang out in the office for a while, that’s cool. We can eat and shoot the breeze, or whatever.”

I nod and rise to my feet quickly, creating a chasm of distance between me and Lexi. I bet Wyatt can still sense the tension though, it’s flooding through the whole damn room.

“Yeah, sounds good. I need to talk to you about some stuff anyway.”

I shoot a glance back at Lexi as I walk away. She has a bit of a shell-shocked look on her face, but she’s staring down at the floor and not at me. I wish she was meeting my eyes, sharing a knowing look with me, letting me know that we can pick this back up when we have a chance.

I wasnotready for that to end, but I guess now we have no choice.
