“Oh, don’t worry about it. I will get out of here. It’s been cool to hang out though. Maybe we could get lunch someday when your work day allows.”
Since his apartment is just over the workshop, I know it’s unlikely I’ll see him at Mom and Dad’s for a while. It isn’t like I intend to be there for long either, so I don’t blame him. Luke will be gone soon too, so I’ll have Grayson.
But I want to hang out with Wyatt too.
“Sure thing. Sounds good. I will just take you through the front.”
I wave to the people I had just met, although I can’t recall their names. As we walk through the areas where the people are working. I’m impressed all over again, I can’t help myself. This really is more than I thought anyone in our town could do for themselves, especially someone who was sinking and spiraling like my oldest brother.
If he can do this, then it really proves that anyone can do anything. I will have to keep that in mind as I keep trying to make contact with the right people in New York.
“Hey, you know what?” Wyatt asks as he gets to the front desk. “If you don’t have to go right away, want to do lunch today? This interview won’t take long…”
I’m nodding before he even finishes his sentence. I can wander around and check out his shop while he does his thing. I’m trying to decide where to start first when something catches my eye.
Who is that?I can’t see her face, and only have her backside to go on, but the woman that Wyatt is about to interview is smoking hot. A cute brunette with legs for days. She’s curvy and petite, and looks great in that pencil skirt. My pulse pounds with excitement when I lay eyes on her.
All the English women adored me. I guess my accent helped, I was an exotic adventure for them all. The fact that things could only ever be short term only helped me, so it was all fun, fun, fun. I’m thinking while I’m in Beaufort I should have some fun as well.
Maybe when I get to New York, I can start taking life a bit more seriously. I can start thinking about settling down and getting into a real relationship. Maybe even think about a marriage and a family, all those terrifying things… or maybe not, who knows.
“You want a coffee?” Liss asks me, draping an oil-soaked rag over her shoulder. She’s one of the motorbike customizers whose name I can’t forget. Her bright blue hair and matching eyebrows makes her really stand out. “I’m just making one.”
“Yeah, that’d be cool. Thanks, Liss. Milk and two sugars, if that’s alright.”
“You back in town for a long time then?” she asks. “I don’t know why you ever left here, this town is amazing. As soon as I came on vacation here with my boyfriend, last year, I just knew this was where I wanted to live for the rest of my life. You going to stay?”
I cannotimagine that. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to move here.
Sure, it’s beautiful and all that, but it isn’t a bustling city where everything is moving all the time. It’s too slow and there isn’t enough to do.
Not for someone like me, anyway.
“Your boyfriend feel the same way?” I ask curiously. “About Beaufort I mean.”
“Nah, I picked the place and got rid of the guy,” she chuckles. “Best thing I’ve ever done. Especially now that I’m working here. I love it here. What about you?”
I cluck my tongue and shake my head. “Nah I won’t be here long.”
“You’re crazy.” She smiles and shakes her head. “This place is the absolute best.”
She hands me the mug of coffee and shoots me a salute. I watch her walk away in confusion, wondering who the hell she is, and how she ended up here.
Where did she live before? Ihaveto ask her more questions after because she chose to be here, and said she wouldn’t want to be anywhere else in the world.
Madness. She means it as well, I can feel it, which only confuses me more.
But hey, to each to their own, I suppose. Our parents must have want to be here forever as well. Otherwise they would have left.
I drink my coffee as I walk around, but mostly I hang around outside the room where I know Wyatt is in, withher. The brunette who I keep imagining has plump lips that she can wrap around my cock to make everything feel so much better…
She might not want me, I suppose, and I’ll have to find someone else to have a good time with, but I can dream, right?
Fuck, I need some way to entertain myself in this place. Until I get some kind of answer from someone in New York, I don’t know what I can do. The waiting game doesn’t exactly sit right with me, but I’ll need to be patient if I’m going to end up taking over the tech world. Dad is right about one thing; it doesn’t happen overnight. I can’t run before I can walk.
But walking doesn’t mean I have to stay here.
The door opens, whipping all the thoughts from my brain. Wyatt is back, withher. My heart skips a beat with anticipation as I wait to see her face.
