“I know,” Arun said.
“And you’re still going in?” Natalia asked.
“Yes,” the three of them said in unison.
“You’re all mad,” Amberly said. “But I’m with you.”
“Amberly…” Dain was ready to protest, but he was quickly silenced when she held a finger against his lips.
“Whether you like it or not, I’m going with you,” she told him. “I can help.”
“You can’t fight them as a Human,” Dain told her softly.
“Then I’ll fight as a cat,” she grinned. “Either way, I’m going with you.”
That piqued Arun interest. As far as he was aware, both femaleswereHuman. But from the sounds of it, they weren’t.
As if reading his mind, Taredd said, “Natalia is fully Human. Amberly, however, is part Shapeshifter.”
That confirmed his suspicion about more halflings being out there. He couldn’t wait to share the news with Selene, but first he had to get her away from his sick and twisted brother.
“As much as I appreciate the help,” Arun said. “I agree with Dain. Both you and Natalia need to stay back. If either of you are there, trust me, he will find a way to use you to his advantage. I don’t know if he’ll be expecting the three of us, but he’ll definitely be expecting me.”
“We need a plan,” Taredd said.
“I have a plan,” Arun replied with a grin.
It was rash and probably more than a bit stupid, but it might just work. If anyone was going to be up for his wild idea, it would be Taredd and Dain.
