Chapter 27

True to his word, Agnarr had returned a short time later. Selene had hoped to have a bit more time to come up with a plan before then, but she’d barely got her head around the fact that he was Arun’s brother when he pulled her from the cage.

She still couldn’t believe it. They were like night and day. Arun made her feel safe and wanted. Whereas, Agnarr made her feel dirty and used.

She shuddered at what he was currently doing to her body. She tried to block it out, but it was impossible when he was rutting like a wild animal on top of her. Panting his nasty breathe all over her as he drove himself closer to climax.

The torture she could deal with. It was the rest that made her sick to her stomach. But when he mixed the two, which he did often, it was pure hell.

Selene had lost count of how many times she had prayed for death the last time she was in his care. This time, she refused to pray for death. She was stronger now. She would rather fight to the death than lay down and die.

“I have missed you,” he said, climbing off her when he was finally finished. “The other females are good, but they can’t take half of what you can.”

She didn’t see that as a good thing. Just because she could take more, didn’t mean he should dish it out.

Selene turned her face away from him. She might be tied to his bed, but that didn’t mean she had to look at him. She would rather stare at a steaming pile of shit than him.

Agnarr laughed at her. “Get used to it, my sweet Selene, because you are going to be with me for averylong time.”

No, I’m not!She silently screamed.

One way or another, she was going to escape again. Even if it killed her. She was not spending a second longer in his care. She would rather die.

Without saying another word, Agnarr pulled on his clothes and then left the room. A few seconds later, two guards walked in. They didn’t say a word as they walked over to the bed.

Selene was all too aware of the fact she was completely naked, but there was nothing she could do about it. The guards didn’t take pity on her and try to cover her up. Instead, making sure to leave the metal chains around her wrists, they untied the restraints pinning her to the bed and pulled her up onto her feet. Before she had a chance to protest, they dragged her naked from the room and down the corridor. Several people saw them, but none tried to stop them, even though they could see her struggling to get away.

The guards didn’t stop until they reached the room with all the cages. They opened the cage she was being kept in, pushed her inside, and then slammed the door closed behind her. Just as silently, they left the room, closing that door as well, but not quite with the same amount of force.

“Are you okay?” one of the females whispered.

“I’ll live,” she said, hoping it wasn’t a lie.

Selene stumbled over to the mattress and gingerly lowered herself down. She hated that he’d been able to get the upper hand once again. After everything she’d done to prepare for the day when he came for her, it had all been for nothing. Just like before, he’d overpowered her within seconds. She hadn’t stood a chance against him.

If Arun was anywhere near as powerful as his brother, then she was lucky she’d been able to get away from him when they first met. Because when she’d tried the same spell on Agnarr,it had absolutely no effect whatsoever. It hadn’t even moved a single hair on his head.

Thinking about Arun made her heart hurt. She missed him more than she thought possible. Even more than she had missed her mother when she died.

It was a strange feeling to miss someone. She had been on her own for so long, she had become accustomed to doing everything herself. But somehow, Arun had wormed his way into her life. She had very quickly and easily adjusted to having him with her, to the point it felt like he had always been there.

She wondered if he knew she’d been kidnapped by his brother. Agnarr told her that he’d left a note, but it didn’t mean Arun had found it. Even if he had, there was no telling whether or not he’d actually go looking for her.

For all she knew, he might be glad to see the back of her. She hadn’t exactly been forthcoming about everything. If she had been, then he might have told her it was his brother that had bought her all those years ago.

Or he would have handed you over sooner.

She thought about the first time she’d seen him in her bunker. She hadn’t stopped to think about which spell to use, it had been an automatic reaction, but it had worked. So why hadn’t the spell worked on Agnarr? She had done everything exactly the same as she’d done with Arun, so it should have worked.

Selene could feel the beginning of a headache coming on. It was starting around her eyes, letting her know it was going to be one hell of a migraine when it finally kicked in. She closed her eyes and leaned her head back against the cool metal bars of her cage, but it did little to help prevent the pain from building.

Selene wished she had the ability to heal herself because it wasn’t just her head that was hurting. It felt like her entire body had been run over by a stampede of animals.

She must have drifted off to sleep at some point because she was woken by the sound of a commotion in the corridor. Something was happening outside the building that had the guards racing about and shouting at each other.

“What’s going on?” she asked the other females.

“No idea,” one of them said seconds before an explosion rocked the building.
