Chapter 14

The Meeting of Alphas

Damian's POV

I rushed from the dining hall in a rage. They have no idea that I could kill them here and now and care less about a damn war. I yanked my office door open and caused it to crash into the wall outside of my office. Alexander was on my heels along with the other alphas and their betas. I got behind my desk and sat down and a demonic growl escaped my throat.

"I could have you all dead if you dare act that way towards me again." I snapped at the alphas.

Their faces went grim, and their betas began to growl. Alexander quickly snapped the betas into submission. I was pissed, no pissed didn’t even cover it. They ruined my daughter’s birthday, and they didn’t even care. If I had to be an asshole then so fucking be it. Everyone was on edge with my current behavior, and I wanted them to be. I wanted them to fear me at this very moment. A fear I hoped would remain with them even after they left.

The silence felt like it would have lasted forever. There was a treaty in place, and I completely ignored it. The four largest packs had to inform each other of mergers on the off chance there was disagreement. We were the governing factions of our regional areas. This had been in place since the ruling king was murdered and the hierarchy fell with no heir. At least everyone thought there was no heir to the throne, and I aimed to keep it that way. A secret that I would take to my grave.

"Why were we not informed about this merger?" Drake questioned me with an undertone of anger in his voice.

This guy must seriously want to die. I growled louder at them, barely controlling myself from doing something I would regret, or not.

"I'm not required to tell anyone my pack is merging with another." I heatedly snapped at him. Alexander placed his hand on my shoulder. He could tell I was about to snap.

Bradley stepped forward and took over for me as rage built up. "We had a rogue invasion. We were being killed off, and I reached out to Damian for a merge." He paused as a sadness overtook him. With a shaky voice, he continued to explain his reason behind the request. "I watched my pack under attack by countless rogues. My mate was slaughtered before my eyes. My pack was going to fall. I failed them, I failed them as their alpha."

Tears fell from his eyes as the other two alphas stood there in shock. The last time an alpha’s mate was killed was when Rose was. I tensed up just thinking about her death. It was never common to attack an alpha’s mate. If an alpha was killed and his mate left alive, she was turned into a sex slave to the rogues. A tool used to produce more rogues and then discarded like trash. It was never a pleasant sight to see and more times than not, those mate-less females would beg to just be killed or take their own lives.

"What was being done about the rogues?" Eric lashed out. His words were cold as they rolled off his tongue, the only emotion found was that of a mix between anger and enjoyment.

I knew what he meant. A massive group of rogues is never a good thing. They can recruit more rogues and start a massive war between packs. The rogues completely hate us. They disagree with our lifestyles since the kingdom fell. They are all that remains in terms of followers of the late king.

"We sent out scouts to assess the situation.” I inform the alphas before me. "Once we have better accessed things, we will discuss our plan in terms of battle. I plan on no rogue being able to escape. I want nothing more than to see them all killed." I walked them through our plan as I remained calm to not cause more of an issue.

"So, you're doing jack shit!" Eric yelled at me. Eric jumped towards my desk and threw his hands on them. I gripped the edge of the desk in front of me, pieces of it crushed in my hands as I went to launch myself forward. Alexander thankfully managed to grab me and pull me back into my chair. I was done. This dude wanted to die, and I would gladly be the one to fucking do it.

"Don't you fucking dare!" I snapped at him.” One of those rogues killed Rose!" I howled at the top of my lungs to the room and anyone else around my office. I felt my face go hot as a tear crept down the left side. The memories of her death rushed to take over. I growled as if any amount of sanity had left my mind.My vision went red as I jumped up from my chair my fist balled tightly.

"Damian-" Drake’s voice cracked as he turned to me. His eyes looked as if they knew the pain of losing her. Rose and Drake were always close, best friends if you would. While he took her death hard, he would never understand how bad it hurt, how much pain I’ve endured. It took everything in me to keep living for Katie’s sake.

"We will work together to bring them down. That I can promise. Rose deserves that." He spoke in a reassured tone and his beta nodded in agreement. I had their support, but Eric can be a pain in the ass when it comes to an alliance regardless of the situation. We've always been neutral with each other. He has never sided with packs nor the rogues, so I’m shocked he is this upset. Maybe because another alpha’s mate was killed? He could be a wild card during something like this.

"Will the engagement be called off if she finds her mate?" Eric spoke. This fucking pervert is obsessed with my daughter he just met. This was another reason I kept her locked away from these people. I didn’t want any of them going after her. Eric may look on the younger side aside from his hair, but he is older than me, he is fifty-five. His first mate died from an illness and since then he has just used women to get his dick wet. A growl escaped Alexander's throat as he eyed the alpha. Eric's beta Jared growled back at Alexander. Eric just smirked at Alexander, everyone in the room could pick up on how Alexander felt about Katie.

"Enough!" I snarled at them. "Eric, my daughter, is engaged. If he is not her mate, then I will end the engagement myself."

I was annoyed. Bradley looked at me in shock and then nodded. He telepathically reached out to me so he could express his thoughts on the engagement.

I only offered my son for marriage due to the merger however, I will agree that she deserves her mate. Regardless of who it is. We will stand by the merger regardless of if the marriage is stopped. He said to me, and I nodded in agreement. Bradley glanced at Alexander then back at me with a knowing look. I had failed to accept it was even possible that Alexander could be her mate, I’ve known him for so long and he had never found his mate before. Could it be possible? I shook the thoughts from my head. If they were mates, I wasn’t sure I could bless off on it. Would Rose be ok with this?

Silence fell across the room as I made it known the engagement very well could end.

"I'll form an alliance with you Knight. However, your daughter comes with me." Eric demanded. He had a wicked smile on his face. A smile that creeped me out to the point of chills. I knew why he wanted her, to keep her not only as a sex slave to bear his children but also as leverage against me. I would never allow Katie to be with him.

"Eric I would die before Katie was to ever come with you." I scoffed at him. Just the thought of my daughter being used by Eric sent me into a blinded frenzy. Alexander no longer cared to hold me back as he growled with me. We stood there ready to attack in unison.

"I can arrange that Knight." Eric laughed coldly. He just threatened to kill me and take my daughter away from me. I lost it. I lunged at him from behind my desk and started hitting him in the face over and over. Eric fell to the ground with me on top of him as I beat him into a bloody pulp. Alexander slammed his beta into the wall to prevent me from an attack. Everything went red as I continued to beat Eric within inches of his life. Bradley and Drake pulled me off his bloodied body as Drake's beta pulled Alexander off before he could crush the other betas' throat with his arm. There was blood all over the floor of my office. My hands hurt and were stained with blood. Eric's pretty face was broken due to the repetitive punches it received. I tried to get back on top of him, but Drake stopped me. That fucking bastard dared to threaten me to my face. He deserved to get beat like the dumbass he was.

Jared pulled Eric up to help his alpha stand. Eric’s face had started to heal, and the blood had dried some. I felt a wicked smirk form as I stared at the alpha. Oh, how I hoped he would retaliate so I could kill him where he stood.

"This is WAR Knight! Do you hear me WAR!!!" He barked at me as Jared rushed him out of my office. Alexander has already telepathically informed the pack warriors and they had Eric's wolves cornered.

"Alexander get them the fuck off my territory!" I demanded as he ran out of my office shifting as he hit the doorway.

"That was a bad move, Damian." Drake said to me and shook his head. I knew what I did would cause a war however the threats to my life also would cause one. Since he made that threat in front of others, I doubt he caused a war.

"Drake, he will not talk about my daughter that way nor threaten me in my own home." I stared firmly at him. Drake nodded in agreement. Everyone in my office knew the threat was out of line and how he talked about Katie was disgusting.

"Still, this should have been handled differently. Regardless, my pack and I have your back." I stood up and shook his hand to agree with the alliance. My bloody hands stained his with the other alpha's blood. We all go to the window and look like my pack chased Eric and his wolves off our territory. Alexander grinned with bloodlust, a look I hadn’t seen on him in a long time. A look that took me back to our reckless days. I didn’t think Alexander still had that side to him as we stopped our crusade through packs ages ago. Maybe he was just hiding this side of him for Katie?

I turned to Drake and his beta and thanked them for their support against the rogues and Eric. I allowed them to remain here and rest in the guest quarters on the second floor. With everything that happened it was best they stay here for a few days, so Eric and his wolves were cleared out. I doubt he would but if he decided to retaliate, he could hit Drake as they left. I dismissed Bradley and sat behind my desk; a sigh escaped me. So much had transpired that it was exhausting. Not only did I have to deal with rogues now, but there was also a small chance of war. In the old days, this would have gone to the kingdom council however we aren’t in the old days anymore, something that was completely my fault. That wasn’t the only thing my fault now, Katie’s birthday had been ruined completely. Her debut as an adult and heir of the pack was completely ruined due to drama amongst men.
