“I know,” he replied. He walked me to the water’s edge. We both stood in silence and watched the water slide in and out. He seemed deep in thought.

“If you don’t want to go tonight, you don’t have to,” I said. “I have to go, but you certainly don’t.”

“Nah, it’s fine,” he said. “I’ll chill for the day and prepare for tonight.”

“I’ll miss you,” I said.

He turned to face me with his hands going around my waist. “I’ll miss you.”

“Should we try and meet up tonight?” I asked. “If you don’t want to, that’s fine.”

“You know I do,” he said. “I’m sure we’ll run into each other at some point. If not, come by my room. If I’m out later than you, I’ll go to your room.”

“That works for me.”

We spent another hour together before I had to meet Norah. She was waiting for me by the pool. Today was all about finalizing the details of the wedding she’d been planning for almost a year. Just when we thought the last detail was settled, something else came up.

There were two smoothies at the table with an umbrella over it. “You’re glowing,” she said when I sat down.

“We were just down at the beach.”

She slowly shook her head. “Not that kind of glowing. You have the look of a very satisfied woman. A woman in love, dare I say?”

“No, no,” I said. “I wouldn’t go getting carried away.”

“Tell me!” She leaned forward. “Obviously you guys are sleeping together.”

“We did. A lot.”

She burst into laughter. “I knew it! How was it?”

“Stop. I’m not talking to you about that stuff.”

“Why not?” she pouted. “I tell you how good Tony is in bed.”

“Because I’m not you,” I answered. I sipped the smoothie and tried to look away.

“He’s good, huh?” she pushed. “He’s got that sensitive side. I bet he’s a generous lover.”

“Stop!” I felt my cheeks burning.

“Just a little tidbit,” she begged.

“He’s great,” I finally admitted. “Very good. Very, very good.”

“Is he gentle?” she asked.

“He can be. The first time, after he got back from the plane ride from hell, not so gentle. But hot. Damn, so hot. I’m only going to do this once. The man is a God. His body—” I groaned and had to close my eyes.

She squealed and clapped. “I knew it! I’m so happy for you!”

I smiled and opened my eyes. “It is good. We’ve both said it isn’t all about the contract. We both feel like there is more to it.”

“Are you guys going to keep seeing each other?” she asked.

“I think so. We haven’t really talked about the details, but I’m pretty sure that’s the direction we’re headed in.”

“Wouldn’t it be cool if you guys come back here to have your wedding?” she teased.
