“You know,” she started as she walked toward me, “when I hired your company, I didn’t expect the owner himself to be this fine and show up every time.”
“You complaining?”
“Not at all.” A smile touched her lips. “Just surprised.”
“Don’t be. Somebody threatening one of my clients, I need to know why.”
We continued toward the truck, but before we could make it there, a black sedan sitting a few parking spaces down caught my attention.
The car was running. That alone wouldn’t have meant shit, but the man sitting behind the wheel wasn’t on his phone or doing anything else that would explain why he was just sitting there.
His eyes kept moving between us and the front of the garage like he was waiting on something.
I slowed my steps.
Akira looked over at me. “What’s wrong?”
“Get her in the truck.”
One of my men immediately moved closer to her.
“Cassian—”
“Akira.” I finally looked at her, keeping my voice calm. “Get in the truck.”
Something in my tone must’ve told her I wasn’t fucking around because she stopped asking questions and let my men lead her toward the truck.
Once I saw that she was inside, I turned my attention back to the sedan. The nigga was still there.
I walked over and knocked twice on the driver’s side window. He looked up at me before slowly rolling it down.
“You waiting on somebody?”
“Yeah, I am.” He nodded.
“Who?”
He hesitated for a second, and that was enough to keep my attention on him.
“My wife. She works in the building.”
I glanced toward the building before looking back at him.
“What’s her name?”
His brows pulled together. “Why?”
“Because you been sitting over here watching my client since she stepped off the elevator.” I rested my hand against the top of his car and leaned down enough to look him directly in his eyes. “So I’ma ask you one more time. Who the fuck are you waiting on?”
“I told you, I’m waiting on my wife,” he repeated.
“And again, what’s her name?”
“Rose.”
I pulled my phone from my pocket and sent one of my men a quick text with the name, telling him to verify it.
A couple minutes later, my phone vibrated.
