“Nothing.”
“You’re laughing.”
“I know.”
“After I just—”
She put a hand over my mouth.
“Don’t ruin it.”
I laughed against her palm.
She was still smiling when I kissed it.
Somehow, that felt right.
I took care of the condom and gave her a minute while she disappeared into the bathroom.
When she came back, I was under the sheet, stretched across one side of her bed.
She stopped in the doorway.
“What?”
“Nothing.”
“That word is getting banned.”
She laughed and climbed in beside me.
I lifted my arm, and she came without me asking, settling against my chest as I pulled the sheet higher around us.
For a few minutes, neither of us said anything.
My hand moved slowly over her back while her fingertips traced along my chest.
Then she said, “I’m glad I called you.”
I smiled. “Me too.”
“I almost didn’t.”
“What changed your mind?”
She was quiet for a moment before she shrugged against me.
“I wanted to.”
The answer was simple.
She wanted something, so she asked for it.
I kissed the top of her head.
“Good enough reason.”
She tilted her face toward mine.
