“Restraints. Tie Roc down.”

By his wide grin, she knew her eyes were as wide as they felt. “I’m not sure, I mean, I don’t think he’d want me to do that…”

“Yeah, he will, trust me on that,” Silas said, his expression back to neutral. “And mating is intense, he may touch you without thinking, or hold you tight while it’s happening. This way there’s no risk. You’ll be able to relax, but so will he knowing there’s no chance of him hurting you or scaring you.”

Restraints.

An image of Rocco, huge and hard, tied to his bed filtered through her mind and zaps of electricity shot like forked lightning through her lower belly. She glanced back at Silas and he was grinning wide again.

“Shut up,” she said, biting back an awkward laugh, her face heating.

He chuckled.

“So how do we take the blood?”

“I can call someone if you want to do it.”

She nodded, feeling lighter.

“Tomorrow?”

“Sounds good. Thanks, Silas.” She stood and her legs felt a little wobbly when that image of a restrained Rocco filled her head again.

“Anytime,” Silas said.

He left and Kyler headed back to her and Rocco’s apartment. She was about to walk in, when she saw him at the end of the hall. He was with Lazarus, and he walked into his brother’s apartment. He hadn’t seen her, so she rushed after them and lightly knocked. It was late, and she didn’t want to wake Eve, but something didn’t seem right.

The door opened, and Eve stood there in her robe. “Oh…hey, Ky. It’s a little late—”

“Is Rocco’s okay?”

Her eyes widened a little. “I haven’t seen him—”

“Eve, I saw him walk in. I followed him here.”

She winced. “Sorry, and thank god, I don’t like lying and I don’t make a habit of it, FYI. But he didn’t want you to see him until Laz took care of him. He made me promise not to tell you.” Eve held the door open for Kyler as she rushed in. “He’s okay, just needs a few stitches.”

Kyler headed toward the murmur of male voices.

“They’re in the bathroom,” Eve said, following.

Shoving the door open, Ky rushed in…and froze. “Oh my god.”

Rocco’s head snapped up. “It’s fine. I’m fine.”

He sat on the bathroom counter, his shirt off and bunched on his lap. His skin was streaked with blood, and there was a deep gash along his ribs. Lazarus’s long, blunt fingers were pinching the skin together with one hand and sewing him up with the other.

“You are not fine, obviously.” She moved forward, hands shaking, and got a better look. “Are those…bite marks?” Beside the slice were several jagged half-moon-shaped wounds that couldn’t be anything but.

“The demons, they’re building their numbers,” Lazarus said before Rocco could answer. “We were ambushed.”

Rocco scowled at him. “Fucking hell, Laz.”

Laz’s gaze shot up from what he was doing, and he grimaced. “Shit, sorry.”

Eve moved up beside her, slinging her arm around her waist. “These guys are tough as old boots. He’ll be okay.”

Kyler tried to slow her breathing, because she was on the verge of hyperventilating. The knights healed on their own, and quickly. The fact he needed stitches meant the wound was deep. She could stop this, the increased demon activity. She could stop them causing more harm looking for her.
