Though with the images and thoughts she'd put in my head, there was a chance that was going to be impossible no matter what I did.

And yet I loved it. We might have met via a dating app and under the belief that we were both mortal, but the reality of her being a goddess was so much better. I didn't have to worry that we were setting ourselves up for heartbreak in twenty years. Instead, we could have something that lasted well beyond that.

And I was ready to take that risk, even if it meant re-entering a world full of gods.

Chapter 14

Menhit

Nervous anticipation ran through me as I waited for Seth's arrival. Unlike the first time he'd come to the oasis, there was no part of me that worried he wouldn't show up. I knew with every fibre of my being that he would. And that we'd be able to spend the entire night together.

As if summoned by my thoughts, Tut came racing through the trees, running around in circles before shooting back off into the rest of the oasis.

I looked in the direction he'd come from, my heart skipping a beat when Seth stepped from between the trees. He sped up the moment he saw me, closing the distance between him and my front door.

"The filter is up to stop him escaping, right?" Seth asked once he was within hearing distance, his low voice sending a pleasant shiver down my spine.

I nodded.

"Great." He came to a stop beside me and reached out to pull me to him.

I went willingly, glad to see that he was as excited to see me as I was him.

"Did you start dinner yet?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

"No."

"Good." He closed the gap between us and captured my lips with his, taking me in a searing kiss that sent a wave of heat through my entire body.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him closer, anxious to relieve the tension that had been building in me since I asked him to come over earlier.

Or perhaps even from when he'd left yesterday.

"I haven't been able to get you out of my head all day," he whispered against my lips.

"Same," I responded, my voice coming out full of need.

I looked up at him and met his gaze, seeing the unadulterated desire swirling in his eyes. But that wasn't the only thing I could see, there was also affection, and something more than that, making me certain that this wasn't just about physical desire.

It was an admission of something more.

"Come inside," I said.

An amused grin spread over his face. "I plan on."

I let out a snort of amusement, unable to help myself. "That was terrible."

"You said it," he responded with a smile.

I took his hand in mine and drew him inside, leaving the door open so Tut could come in if he wanted to. Though I doubted he would, there was far too much of interest around the oasis for the dog to pay us any attention.

"Bedroom?" I asked, biting my bottom lip and hoping I hadn't read the situation wrong.

"Lead the way."

I hurried through the house and to the back where my room was, turning the moment I stepped through the door and pressing myself against him. He leaned in to kiss me, only breaking away to pepper a few kisses down my neck.

"The dress needs to go. And the underwear."
