It wasn’t until I tried to walk on land that I noticed just how fucked up I was. My heart was beating slowly, I was hot, my hearing was muffled, my vision was completely fucked up. Each time I tried to stomp my foot to the ground, I was nowhere near the concrete and fell forward.
“Just go grab the truck, I’ll stay with her,” Devyn urged. “And hurry before she gets in trouble! Cassie. Cassie, stop! Cassie, sit down!”
I let out a breath, plopping down onto the deck. The world tilted from side to side as Kenzie and Tati rushed off to grab the Range Rover. Shortly after, Devyn’s phone started ringing. She looked at me while chewing her lip.
“Cassandra, stay right here.”
“CASSIE!”
She rolled her eyes, walking just a couple feet down and answering. I hate when a bitch get on the phone with a nigga and her voice go up seven octaves.
I sat there alone. Alone like I always am. I love my girls to death but fuck! Kenzo should be out here with me! I hate lying in bed alone. I hate how even Juan wasn’t able to fill the void, just a temporary Band-Aid. He should be here! Him! No other nigga! HE SHOULD BE HOLDING ME WHILE I GRIEVE MY FUCKING PARENTS!
Tears streamed down my face as I pulled my knees into my chest. Funs over, and the hurt is settling in. As the sun began to set, it just reminded me how close to the death date we were. A full twenty-four hours of not being able to breathe.
“Don’t cry, sexy ass!” Donnie said.
I didn’t even realize the nigga was squatted next to me. He reached his dirty ass hand out, wiping my tears from my face. My face my man pay a gripmillion on products for! Bitch!
The anger that was already underneath the grief came up. I pulled my hand back, smacking the fuck out this nigga across his face. Blood flew from his mouth. He paused for a second before yanking me up by my arm.
“Aye, I was just trying to help yo ass! You sitting on the ground crying like a damn fool! You drunk and needa go home! Stop putting your hands on people you don’t know!”
“FUCK YOU! YOU BEEN PUTTING YOUR HANDS ON ME ALL FUCKING DAY! I’M TIRED OF YOU LOSER ASS NIGGAS THINKING TOUCHING A BITCH IS FLATTERING! RUN THAT TO A BITCH THAT NEEDS A NIGGA’S ATTENTION TO FEEL LIKE THE BADDEST. I’M NOT HER!”
“Cassandra!” Devyn yelled. She pulled on my arm, “C’mon, let’s go! She’s sorry!”
“No, I’m not! Fuck you, nigga and fuck you Devyn for even apologizing to him!”
“Go ahead and go with your girl!” he said while nudging me.
I smacked his hand off me yet again. With both of my palms, I shoved this nigga in his chest hard as fuck. He tripped backwards before I threw my phone at his face. I could see Kenzo FaceTiming me as it flew in the air.
Before I could lift my foot and step on this nigga’s head, someone grabbed my arm. Another nigga. Anger still had its grip on me. I swung my fist back but he caught that too. When I looked up, it was a policeman.
“You’re doing way too much. You need to go before I lock you up for being drunk and disorderly.”
“FUCK YOU! LOCK ME UP THEN!”
He immediately put me in handcuffs.
“CASSIE!” Devyn cried out.
Tati and Kenzie ran from the Range Rover. Tati grabbed my arm, but he yanked me away, pointing his finger in her face.
“Find y’all something safe to do before y’all go too! She’s going! I gave her, her chance!”
“I DON’T GIVE A FUCK, YOU STUPID BITCH! NIGGAS THINK THEY DOING SOMETHING WHEN THEY BECOME TWELVE, BITCH YOUSA PUSSY! TAKE ME TO JAIL, MY NIGGA THERE!”
“Cassie, hoe, they not going to put you in his cell!” Kenzie urged.
Tati grabbed his arm, “Wait, wait, wait! You come to The Ninth, right? G, don’t look stupid, we not finna tell anybody. Them two bartend and me and her are a part of the Fab Four. Remember?”
He looked at all of us for a long time before nodding.
“I can get you a bottle for free!” Kenzie offered.
“I can get you a section and I’ll give you a free private dance. Just pleaseeee let my sister go!”
