“No. No, I’m not alright,” she said, sounding distraught.
Instantly, my antennae went up. “What do you mean? What happened? Did Axel do something to you?”
“Calm down. It’s nothing like that. It’s just…” she paused, shaking her head, and turned to me. “Brit, this man put me on his shoulders against the wall and devoured me like I was his last supper.”
I processed her words, and my eyes widened. “Wait… you mean he did that… while holding you in the air?”
Solemnly, she nodded. “Brit, I damn near started shouting out my Social Security and bank account number.”
Both of us howled with laughter and made our way off the elevator. Fifteen minutes later, our Uber pulled up to the hotel where we were staying. When we made it back to the room, Morgan and her crew were sitting on the couch.
“You really ditched us to hang with those people after that woman disrespected Tammy.”
It was too early, and I wasn’t in the mood. I was still reeling from all those orgasms Christian gave me last night. “Morgan, not now. I need to pack so we can catch our flight.”
By the time we got to the airport, Morgan was still running her mouth. I plugged my earbuds in to tune her out. It’s like she was hell-bent on starting a fight, and I just wasn’t about to give her the satisfaction. Once I got settled on the plane, I closed my eyes, ready to sleep through this entire flight.
Kira grabbed my arm, shaking me right as I was about to fall asleep. “What?” I asked in a panic. She looked horrified.
“I think you got married last night.”
“What?!” I shouted, gaining attention from the people around us.
“Look.” Kira handed me her phone.
There was a photo of Christian and me standing front and center at a chapel, locking lips while everyone threw rice in the air. The craziest part is that I have no recollection of this. I knew my memory was a little fuzzy, but how the hell do you forget an entire wedding?
“This can’t be right. I don’t have a ring on my finge…” I stopped when I saw Christian tatted on my ring finger. “Oh my God. What the hell did I do?”
Chapter Three
TORCH
They say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. What a load of crap. Apparently, what happens in Vegas follows you home with permanent consequences.
When I woke up this morning, Brittney was gone. However, there was a marriage certificate on the bedside table. I couldn’t believe my fuckin’ eyes. I have never done something this reckless. Hell, out all of my siblings, I was the most levelheaded one.
I will admit I was feeling Brittney. There was something about her that had me clinging to her. Never in my twenty-nine years have I felt such an intense connection with a woman. I was with my high school girlfriend for two years and even then I never felt this way about her.
Brittney was hands down the most beautiful woman I have ever laid eyes on. She was funny and down to earth. I could tell she came from money. She was dressed in designer clothes from head to toe. I had been around wealthy women most of my life.
Most of them wouldn’t have given me the time of day with the way I was dressed last night. I wore a plain white T-shirt and jeans. No jewelry and nothing designer. The most they would have done was treat me as a sexual fling. But not Brit. She was just as drawn to me as I was to her.
What really did it for me was how she got along with my sisters. They were normally great judges of character. Within talking to someone for five minutes, they would know if this person was worth the time of day. With Cara and Sara, it was mostly due to them being interrogators for the government in the past. They knew how to pick up little tells to know if a person was lying.
As the night was coming to an end, I knew I wasn’t ready to be away from her. That’s why I put a bug in Bianca’s ear to invite Brittney and Kira to tag along with us. I had noticed that Brittney and Bianca were vibing with each other for most of the night.
That was the last thing I could completely remember. It’s like once we left the club, the night became a fog. If it wasn’t for Sofia wanting to take pictures and record every moment while we were on vacation, I wouldn’t have a clue as to how this marriage came about.
Now I am sitting on my dad’s plane headed home, trying to come up with a plan to handle this. Now I’m sitting on my dad’s plane headed home, trying to come up with a plan to handle this. All I had was Brittney’s full name from the marriage certificate. I knew my sisters would be able to find her for me, but I didn’t know how long it would take. I needed this problem resolved before my mother caught wind of it.
“What the fuck are we going to do? Mom is going to kill us,” I mumbled.
Almost everyone was sleeping. The window shades were closed, and the lights had been dimmed. We were all still recovering from that wild night.
“Why the fuck are you speaking in French? Talking about we.” Cara scoffed, her eyes closed. She was sitting in front of me on the sofa with Viper stretched across it, laying his head in her lap.
I rolled my eyes with pursed lips. “Really, Cara?”
