“Because there is a man with your face probably plastered over his entire apartment, currently plotting to make you his bitch. I’ve seen the movies. I know how it works.”

“Okay, I’ll call for a ride.”

“Not an Uber.”

“What then?”

“Don’t you have a car, a driver, a limousine or something?”

“I gave him the night off.”

“I’ll walk with you. I’ll be your body bitch.”

“Won’t you be late?”

“No. Your new place is in my direction, but I’ll have to save the guided tour for a drunken night in, courtesy of Jason Prince.”

“I’ll arrange it.”

I follow her out and hide my smile when she pretends to stumble near the hot guy and almost falls onto his lap. His arms reach out to steady her, and she says with an embarrassed chuckle, “I’m so sorry.”

“No problem, ma’am.”

His smile could blind the sun and as he helps her to her feet, his crooked smile appears genuine.

“Will you be okay?”

He raises his brow, and she blushes, causing me to stare in utter amazement. Bethan never blushes. She doesn’t have the capacity. It’s written in the DNA of a bad-assed bitch.

“I’ll be fine. Thank you for asking.”

I’m in shock. Who is this timid lady smoothing down her dress and blushing like a virgin?

She smiles shyly and as she heads for the exit, his gaze follows her and before I can consider what the hell I’m doing, I take a pen from my purse and scrawl her name and number on the napkin on the table.

Then I grin and follow her outside.

What are friends for if they can’t wingman for their bestie?

CHAPTER 30

ANGEL

Sophie is late. I’m aware she met with her friend in the coffee shop a few blocks away. I have eyes on her wherever she goes and they report back to me. I’m also aware she scrawled her friend’s number on the napkin and gave it to Beau. It amused me. Sophie really doesn’t give a shit, and I love that about her.

When she arrives, I’m sitting on the couch, beer in hand, the game on the screen.

She doesn’t need informing that I’ve been working until five minutes ago, searching for her stalker via my computer.

It brought up some interesting information that I want to check with her. But not as Jason. That pleasure will be Angels.

“Hi.”

She appears nervous and I know exactly why that is. She has a scarf wrapped around her neck that wasn’t there when she left this morning.

“Good day?”

“Yes, um, great, thank you.”
