“Overkill,” she said in a singsong voice.

“Maybe, but that’s what I do. It goes with the Omega package.”

She started coughing, and immediately grabbed for her juice.

“Are you okay?” he asked.

“I didn’t know you referred to your penis as the Omega package.”

“Look, Miss Smartass, be serious. He got into your car. Your car,” Cooper said, leaning over the table for emphasis.

Brenna shivered. She flashed back to that moment when she’d pulled the CD out of the player. “Got it. I bow to the Omega package.”

He must have seen her shiver, because he was out of his chair, and around the table and kneeling next to her in a heartbeat. “Baby, if you want, I can stay there at your job, but at the very fucking least I’ll be waiting for you by the elevators when you clock out. You got that?”

Brenna breathed out a sigh of relief. “No staying at the job. I don’t need you distracting the female lawyers,” she said with a grin.

“Well, good, because I’m going to be doing a little recon while you’re at the job.” He stood up and took her half-eaten breakfast back to the kitchen.

“Is that finding the buddy he might be holed up with?” she yelled after him.

“Yep.”

“Can we drive through McDonald’s on the way to the office?”

“That was my plan, too,” he winked. “I’d offer my services as a bath attendant, but you’d end up late for your job.” She looked at the clock, and saw he was right.

“Cooper, what are you going to do if you find Josiah?”

“When I find Josiah.” He leaned comfortably against the wall looking at her. Brenna had no real doubts that he was her protector, and he would find the man who was stalking her.

“Okay, when you find Josiah, what are you going to do?”

“Brenna, breaking into your car was over the line. Thank God, now he has to admit to that to the police. It’s not much; he can plead out, but it will give him a record. I’m going to persuade him to confess. Prior to introducing him to the police, I will convince him that stalking women, and you in particular, is a really, really, bad idea.”

Brenna stood up. She was aware that she was just wearing one of Cooper’s t-shirts and panties. His gaze ate her up, and she planned to use that power. She thrust out her breasts, and this time she gloried in the way he ogled them. Good, let the man fall under the spell of the boobies. She stopped a foot away from him.

“Eyes. Look me in the eyes, cowboy.”

He grinned. “I like seeing you in my t-shirt, baby.”

“I like seeing you not in county lock-up. Do I have your promise that you will not end up in jail?”

“For fuck’s sake, do you think this is the goddamn amateur hour?” he exploded, his eyes dark, his expression fierce.

“No, I don’t. But I also think this is personal, and I worry you might cross a line that you wouldn’t normally. So sue me for worrying.” She planted her fists on her hips.

He yanked her against him. “I will not end up behind bars. Geez, woman, have a little confidence in your man.” Cooper feathered a kiss along her jaw, and Brenna had a tough time even remembering what she had been talking to him about. Between the kisses and him saying he was her man, she was up in the sky, swirling around in the clouds.

When she felt his hands creeping up the back of the t-shirt, she began focusing again. “I need to get to work.”

“Dammit. Remember where we left off,” he whispered against her mouth.

Reluctantly she pulled out of his arms, and drifted down the hall to the bathroom. God, the man was potent.

“You have to tell me what’s going on,” Tanya demanded as she sat down next to Brenna in the break room.
