“Oh shit! What up doe, Solo!” Dom exclaimed, slapping my palm and pulling me in a hug.

“Nothing much, man. I ain’t seen you all night.”

“My bad. I’ve been making sure my girl don’t think she single for the night.”

We all laughed.

“Toxic as hell.” I shook my head. “Truce Stone, right?” I asked. I had only met him once at a building block party, so I wanted to make sure I said his name correctly.

“Yeah. What’s good, fam?”

“Life.”

“Dig that.”

“I came over because I remembered you throwing that block party a few years back. You still building?”

“Of course. Just finished building my wife and Lessyn a bigger dance studio downtown.”

“That’s dope. I need a home built for me and my wife. I want to get it done expeditiously.”

“Wife?” Dom questioned, shock written all over his face. “When the hell did you get married?”

“Almost a week ago.”

“Word? To Temptress?”

“Don’t call her that, bruh. That name is now only reserved for me.”

He tossed his palms up in mock surrender. “No disrespect, my baby. I’m just shocked. Y’all are on two different sides of the coin.”

“Not anymore. You won’t be seeing her in Lucid no more.”

“Respect.” He held a hand out to me, and I took it. “Congratulations, bruh. If anybody deserves it, it’s you for sure.”

“Thanks, Dom.”

“Always.”

Truce chuckled. “Almost got your chest caved in, my G.”

“Nah. Solo knows I don’t mean no harm. We go too far back for me to disrespect this man.”

“It’s all love,” I replied, giving him a pound.

Truce nodded. “So, expeditiously meaning?”

“Meaning, I need it done in the next few months.”

“Take my number down. I’m in town for the next two weeks. We can meet up to talk logistics.”

I took my phone out, typed in his number, then bid them a good night.

I retrieved my wife, and we headed out. On the drive home, Temple leaned into me and laid her head on my shoulder.

“I had a good time tonight. Even though we didn’t stay long. I didn’t know you knew a lot of influential people.”

“There are a lot of things you don’t know, but it’s to be expected. Don’t worry though, my love. I’m going to tell you everything you want to know about my life and vice versa. We have our whole lives to learn and love each other.”
