“You’re right.” She got quiet for a long moment, and I looked over to see her staring blankly out of the window.
“What’s on your mind, baby?”
“Nothing, I just . . . I feel like I’m in a dream and scared I’m going to wake up soon. I think it’s finally settling in that I’m married, and now I’m questioning if I made the right choice.”
I frowned and adjusted myself in the seat. “Can you explain what you mean?”
I could feel her eyes come to me. “Oh, this isn’t anything about you, babe. It’s me. I’m scared that I may not be a good enough wife to you. I have never been in love before, and this feeling both excites and terrifies me. Seeing your friends with their wives, I could see the love between them, and I started to feel like . . . I don’t know. Do you think we rushed into this?”
“Are you having second thoughts?”
“No. I just don’t want you to feel like I’m not good enough for you. I don’t want to mess things up, and you decide to leave me.”
“I’m not going anywhere, Temp. I know it’s early, but when I married you, I vowed to always love, protect, and honor you. Don’t think too hard, baby. Marriage isn’t about being perfect. It’s about waking up every day and choosing each other.
“In the morning, we have a session with Pastor Daniels. After we leave there, we’re going to your family and letting them know about the wedding, and you all can start planning it. Spare no expense, baby. Whatever your heart desires, I want you to have it because I want you to know it’s real. That my feelings for you are real, and I want to make you happy.”
“I want to make you happy too, Solomon. I don’t want you to feel like it’s one-sided.”
“Then don’t. Just you marrying me made me the happiest man alive. I love you, and as long as your love don’t change, we’re going to grow old together. Happy and still in love.”
She blushed slightly, then leaned all the way over and kissed my lips while grabbing my manhood. Before I knew what she had planned, she fumbled with the button on my jeans.
“Temp—”
“Shhh.”
“I’m driving, love.”
“I know. That’s what makes it even better. Get us home safely, big papa.” She relieved my mans from his holding place and wrapped those pretty lips around me while I tried desperately not to crash all the way home.
“Solomon, Temple. It’s good to see you both.” Pastor Daniels greeted as we walked inside his office.
“Good to be seen. Thank you for taking us on such short notice,” Solomon said, shaking his hand.
“It’s not a problem at all. The Lord made it possible for me to have time in my schedule today. Have a seat.”
Solomon and I sat on the firm couch in front of his chair.
“Temple, how have you been?”
“I’ve . . . I’ve been good, Pastor D. I was a little nervous to come see you, though.” I tittered lightly.
“Why is that?”
“Because I haven’t been here in a while. I’m nervous that you’re going to get on me about it.”
“One thing I’ve learned is that God’s children sometimes leave the nest, but they will always find their way back home.”
“Don’t feel bad, baby. I don’t come to church either, but I pray daily, move different, and sow a seed every Sunday.”
“That’s right. Just because you haven’t been here to fellowship with us doesn’t mean you don’t still belong.”
“Understood.”
“Now, before we begin, I’d like to say a word of prayer. Bow your heads.” Pastor Daniels led with a prayer of guidance and wisdom before we all concluded with Amen.
Pastor Daniels smiled as he looked between us both before shaking his head with a chuckle.
