He gasped.
“NO!” he said.
When they both looked over at Hart, he nodded, signaling he was telling the truth.
Well, damn.
So much for catching a killer with this evidence. Now, it was time to go after him for the second part.
“How long were you sleeping with her as your patient?” Bishop asked.
That’s when it happened.
Someone clammed up.
Pretty.
Damn.
Fast.
When Honor pulled out her phone, she pulled up the pictures she took of Wynter’s and showed him their evidence. He might not have killed her, but he could have contributed to her death by keeping her depressed and fucking with her mind.
If that was the case…
They’d make sure he paid.
“You were sleeping with her every Friday at three. Your office closed at two, just like it did yesterday. Now, you can lie, but that’s going to make us think you murdered her. Someone shot her in the head last night, and we’re going to get to the bottom of this,” Bishop stated.
Okay, they believed that she did it, but he didn’t know that, and he wouldn’t if they did this right. If he wanted to confess or give them information regarding his other sins, well, they would use that to help them.
At her words, immediately, he started sweating.
Profusely.
While they had him over the fire, Bishop went there.
“Our friend here is a PI, and unfortunately for you, he’s psychic. He can tell when a person is lying or telling the truth by reading his aura. Feel free to test him out. Go ahead. Play stupid games, Doctor, and win stupid prizes.”
The man stared at Hart but said nothing.
Yeah, and he didn’t have to. Bishop knew what he was thinking, and not because she could read minds.
She knew criminals.
“Oh, he’s legit,” Bishop said. “He just signaled you didn’t kill her. Which is good for you, but still bad because we all know you were sleeping with a patient who was ALSO a married woman. Wynter was married to a man who is pretty wealthy and has some influence in this city. I wonder what is going to happen when he finds out,” she said, hoping that never happened.
Yeah, the man was really sweating now. There were drips of perspiration running down his neck below his shirt collar. They bet he didn’t see this one coming.
Get a warrant their asses. If he wanted to play hardball, they were breaking out the big guns.
As predicted, he lied.
“I didn’t sleep with her.”
Hart sighed.
“That is a lie. He absolutely was sleeping with her.”
