You’re mine. You aren’t going anywhere. I want his full name and his address.
CHAPTER 4
BUTCH
Raelynn shook her head, and it took everything in him not to demand that she tell him everything. Butch had so many questions he wanted to ask, but he knew in the state she was in; he needed to be careful. He didn’t want to send her into panic mode and have her shut down even more.
No.
He’d just found her again, and he wasn’t going to let her go.
“Do you have any idea who could have done this?” Doc asked as he held her in his arms.
She hadn’t answered the question, just shook her head, and even more tears ran down her face. Was she just doing that even if she didn’t know what the question was? It broke his heart, and he didn’t end up pushing her to answer it but held on tightly, attempting to calm her down.
What was going on through her head? He wanted to ask, but they hadn’t seen each other for eight years. He had no doubt things had changed between them. Butch was determined to get her back, though. He was determined to get back to what their relationship was like in high school, trusting each other and telling each other every little detail.
He didn’t care that she was partially deaf. They were going to figure everything out together and be together once again… no matter how long or what it took. Butch was going to make sure it happened.
“I don’t, but I’m going to make them pay for everything they’ve done,” he calmly said. “They are not going to get away with this. No matter how long it takes me to find them, I’m going to make them suffer like they made her suffer.”
Butch looked down at Rae. The tears had stopped, and he figured she was on the verge of falling asleep. From the dark circles under her eyes, her pale skin, and skinny body, he knew she hadn’t been taking care of herself.
Wasn’t taking care of herself, or couldn’t?
The questions piled up inside him the more he thought about what she had been doing since the last time he saw her over eight years ago.
“How are you going to find that information out when she won’t tell you?” Doc asked.
Sighing, he looked down at Rae once again, trailing his knuckle across her exposed cheek. Even in her sleep now, she was nuzzling into his chest, gripping onto his shirt for dear life.
But this time, he wasn’t going to leave. There was no way he would let her out of his sight now… not when he had just found her again.
He was going to make sure that she stayed right by his side no matter what. He was going to prove that she belonged to him, and there was no way out of it.
There was no escaping their destiny.
“I’m going to have Ace look into what happened to her after I left to join the club. He’s going to find out all the information he can, and we’re going to go from there,” he replied. “And I hope that, in the meantime, I’m going to get her to be comfortable again with me, and then she’ll be telling me his name.”
That was his hope, but he wasn’t going to push her to tell him. He wanted to rebuild trust between them. The trust he knew he broke when he told her he was joining the Springfield Sinners and had to leave her behind until she graduated from high school.
“Doc,” he called as he looked up. “Can you look into the hearing aids she can get? I don’t care about the cost. I’ll also be adding her to my insurance, so I’ll need Ace or Reaper to forge some documents so it looks like we’re married. The sooner the better. I want to get her whatever she needs.”
“We don’t know the extent of her hearing loss, so we don’t know what she can or can’t have,” Doc explained. “But I’ll contact a friend of mine to see if he can do an assessment on her.”
“Thank you,” Butch replied. “I would also appreciate if this was all kept on the down low.”
Doc’s head tipped back as he laughed. “Good luck with that. She walked into the clubhouse and asked for you by name, all bruised and looking terrified. Everyone knows she means something to you by the way you carried her through the clubhouse and into your room, barking at me to come and check her over. There’s no way of hiding this, so I wouldn’t try.”
Sighing, Butch hung his head for a second. He hadn’t been in his right mind when he saw her turn around in the middle of the sidewalk. He thought he had been seeing things, but then he saw her eyes roll to the back of her head, and he knew she was real.
Everything went out the window when he realized that Rae, his Little Fairy, was back in his arms after eight years.
Eight long years of not having her by his side.
“Then make sure they don’t tell anyone else about it. I don’t want it getting out, and the man who is after her to find her. She kept talking about needing to leave before he found out where she was. She is terrified of him. I don’t need him finding her before I can find him,” Butch said. “Make it clear that they are not to talk about it.”
“I’ll have Deccan tell them. Are you sure you want to do this?” Doc asked. “You said it’s been eight years since you’ve seen her. Everyone in the club knows you left behind the love of your life and went back to her, but came back empty-handed.”
