“Don’t care.”

“I do. Falcon, we’re taking this slowly, remember?”

Falcon pouted, but got out of bed, stretching and showing a tantalising glimpse of abs under his tee before lowering his arms with a smirk. “Sure you want me to leave?”

“Get out!” I laughed, throwing a pillow at him, and Falcon left, grinning. I flopped back in the bed and knew I was in trouble. Falcon was drawing me in tighter, and I was falling for him. I didn’t understand why he wanted me; it didn’t make sense, but I wasn’t going to say no. Falcon was the real deal, and that wasn’t something I was used to.

Calamity

“We’ve got a body, Prez.”

I closed my eyes. That was the last thing I needed. “Where?” I asked Wolf.

“The RV Park. At the entrance, it looks like the victim came from the trees beyond and was running towards the road,” Wolf replied.

“Have you called the cops?”

“Nope. You first.”

“Do you recognise him?”

“Guy’s been beaten black and blue, but I think it’s one of the three we’ve been looking for,” Wolf dropped the bombshell.

“Fuck!” I exclaimed, capturing Falcon’s attention. “A Beauregard is dead on our land.”

“Why the fuck is it always us?” Falcon snarled.

“Good question. We’ve got Rage and the Unwanted Bastards coming in tonight. We don’t need this bullshit. Phone it in, Wolf. We’re on the way.”

“Can shit get any worse?”

“Are you trying to jinx us? Let’s go,” I ordered and cut the call.

“What’s going on?” Nova asked, making us both startle.

“We gotta ride. Can you and Mom stay with Myka and Jayes? Don’t let them out of your sight,” Falcon said.

“Dad has Jayes and the brats currently. What happened?”

“One of those who beat Myka near to death has turned up dead,” he replied.

“Okay, Mom and I have her covered,” Nova promised, and Falcon walked away content. Myka was protected.

“Well, I’m fucked if I can guess which asshole this is. His face is too battered,” I admitted. Falcon nodded.

“Prez, I’ve pulled the camera footage; there’s a clear fight. The fucker who beat him is huge,” Wolf stated.

“Rawson?” I asked.

“Could be. Let’s see,” I said, hearing cops in the distance. Wolf showed us the victim ran past the RV gates and headed towards the spot where he died. Behind him, a bigger man chased and knocked him down. The violence shown was sickening. The taller guy just kept whaling and stamping until the smaller one finally stopped moving. In one breathtakingly shocking move, the big guy stamped on his head and then took off.

“Jesus,” Falcon looked sick.

“Cates is gonna need that. That’s Rawson for sure. This is either Dawson or Lawson. Jesus, the lunatic killed his own brother,” I said, shaking my head.

Cates pulled up with Farell behind her.

“Another body?” Farell demanded, eyeing everyone suspiciously.
