“Ha, you’re finally awake,” Oro said cheerfully as he stepped out of my bathroom wearing a shirt that belonged to Shay-Lee.
Anger poured through me like the alcohol that still ran in my veins, and ignoring the pain in my head and body, I stormed toward him.
“The fuck you think you’re wearing?” I shouted and clenched his shirt in my fist, nearly ripping the fabric as I pulled him close. Just then, another thought occurred to me, and I looked down at his legs. “And why the fuck are you half-naked?”
Placing his hand on top of mine, he stroked me. “I had to take a shower after last night.”
His wording rubbed me the wrong way, and I jolted him closer. “The fuck does that mean?”
His brows knitted close into a frown. “You mean you don’t remember last night?”
Don’t remember? The last thing I recalled was dragging my pathetic ass from the cemetery into the first bar I found and ordering a bottle of bourbon, which I drank neat. Anything that happened past that stage was as good as gone.
“You were drunk, so you called me and asked for my help,” Oro said with a concerned look on his face while he continued to move the pad of his fingers along my forearm. “I picked you up from that bar and brought you here. The whole time you were sobbing like a kid because that asshole dumped you.”
My body tensed, and angry, I gritted my teeth. “He didn’t dump me.”
Oro snorted. “It sure didn’t sound like it, but anyway, after we got here…” He dropped his stare to my lips before glancing up to meet my eyes. “Well, you can imagine what happened next.”
Shocked, I released the hold on his shirt. Oro didn’t waste a moment before latching onto me and wrapping his arms around my body.
“You were the best fuck I’d ever had, Camilo. Absolutely the best.”
My blood ran cold with his claim that we’d fucked last night, and as he continued to hug me, my rage only grew stronger until I could hardly hear my own thoughts. The mere implication that I’d cheated on Shay-Lee was beyond absurd, and if Oro thought for one second that I was dumb enough to believe this crap he was spitting, he was wrong. So fucking wrong.
“C-Camilo?” he gasped after I grabbed his arms and pushed him back.
“We didn’t have sex last night.”
“What do you mean?” His bottom lip quivered.
He was a good actor, I’d give him that.
“We. Didn’t. Have. Sex. Last. Night.” My muscles vibrated with fury, and when he tried hugging me again, I pushed him back.
“Camilo!”
“And I never called you for help.” I locked eyes with him, and the lying bitch flinched with fear.
“W-what are you talking about? Of course you called m—”
I violently cupped his face in my palm, forcing his stupid mouth shut after I had had enough of his lies.
“You mean so little to me, practically nothing, so why on earth would I ever call you?” I tightened my hold until he winced with pain.
His eyes widened like those of a little rat as he begged me to let go, but I didn’t.
“And you’re bold enough to say we fucked?” I pulled him close so his ear nearly brushed my lips. “I’d rather die than cheat on him, let alone touch you, puta.” Repulsed by his proximity, I pushed him to the floor.
He began crying, not that I gave a shit, as I turned around to pick up my phone from the bed.
“H-how could you speak to me like this?”
“Easily,” I said as I tried opening my phone when it didn’t work. The stupid thing was out of battery. Looking for my charger, I found it connected to the wall, so I walked over there, all while Oro continued whining like a fucking bitch.
“Don’t you see that we’re perfect for one another? Unlike that asshole who doesn’t appreciate you at all. You said it yourself—you said how he doesn’t appreciate what you did for him.”
Yeah, right.
